The Official Swansea City Versus AFC Bournemouth Premier League Match Thread on 16:46 - Dec 31 by AussieSwan | Game over. Season over. January should be building for the Championship. End of. |
This is a point I've made elsewhere. The PL is beyond us now. Our focus now is to attract players that can primarily keep us up next year. Yes, you read that right! We also need to bring in u-23 talent to get some experience which hopefully give them invaluable experience for next year. And we also need to get back to our way of playing. It may still be the way of coming back up sometime (but not next year in all likelihood).

The Official Swansea City Versus AFC Bournemouth Premier League Match Thread on 16:50 - Dec 31 by Drizzy | We're finished. There's no point pouring money into this feckless group of cowards. The sad thing is this demise was so predictable yet avoidable if we'd just stuck to our formula. Mistake after mistake in every department: player acquisition, managerial appointments and critically the sale of the club was always going to take its toll. Anyone thinking this carcass is salvageable is at best an unrelenting optimist, at worst a raving f*cking loon. It needs to be a top priority to acquire Paul Clement and get him some valuable Premier League experience this season. Prepare for the Championship by signing young promising players and try to re-establish a scouting network for technically able players on the continent with the windfall. Anyone that can't pass the ball, sadly there are plenty in this squad, needs to go sharpish unless they're willing to play a bit part role in the Championship but I doubt their egos will allow that. All the high earners and prized assets need to be shipped but for the love of God we need to show some resolve in transfer negotiations and not accept paltry bids. Clear the parasites in the boardroom. Immediately. The relationship between the hierarchy and the fans is nearing a critical level of toxicity. Hopefully Levein and Kaplan have the gumption to cut all ties with Jenkins & co. Or at least sell the club to someone who will. The club needs to reconnect with the fans and the Trust has to play a pivotal role beyond meek and contradictory statements. We're not in a disastrous position even if we do go down. With a calculated summer and under the influence of a competent manager we'll be well placed to return quickly but we can't risk the club's financial future in doing so. It's time for the fans to accept it may be a long time before we ever reach this level again and we'll likely never repeat the success of 2011-2013. That's OK. Let's just focus on getting the enjoyment back from watching our football team. |

Mawson needs to go on loan to a Championship club. Oh, hang on... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Beggars belief that we did not sign him on loan, particularly after missing out on Joe Allen Also beggars belief that when we had a chance to sign him, many forum members believed he isn't good enough for our midfield

Maybe he should be first out the door. Defence is crap admittedly but his body language is appalling

Maybe we didn't try or maybe he wasn't interested. We can't sign every available player. That said, one good one would have been nice!

Many forum members on here are deluded. Some didn't want Brendan back because they are still upset he left them for Liverpool.

Don't be soft, A huge difference between PL and L1. Grow some balls as with parachute payments the playoffs should be the minimum and a reasonable target.

All with massive debts. Yes it's possible, but we're finacially tightly run which will mean we're better placed than any of those teams to make used of the far larger parachute payments than they had.

""Although I cannot promise or predict the future, I can guarantee one thing - the current board of directors will always fight, as we have done over the last 12 years, to work together as one with the Supporters Trust to make 100% sure that Swansea City football club remains the number one priority in all our thoughts and in every decision we make." | Poll: | Huw Jenkins |

Just home and my worst fears were realised. We knew we had a poor squad, but after recent weeks they are also a squad with zero confidence. At the moment we are the weakest side in this league. [Post edited 31 Dec 2016 19:22]
