Not unless that said reporter is promised the exclusive when it happens.

It's going to be a pretty shit exclusive if it's already been in the Metro.

If Rodgers had taken the job when Monk was sacked, I'm pretty sure we would have seen a similar brand of football. Switching to our previous style mid season would have been a hell of a gamble. Tweaking what was already there was the right call. Hopefully Guidollin can now show us what he can do without relegation hanging over him. If not, Rodgers or whoever else gets the chance to transform us in pre season.

I know there's always the exception (such as Ranieri at Leicester - no doubt there are people who are students of Italian football who can point out other example) but my impression over many years of watching Italian national and club sides has been "defence first and foremost, attack if it is safe to do so"
Generally I have found it boring to watch and IMO Guidolin would offer us more of the same.
I know he's only been with us a few weeks and been ill on top of that, but nothing about the way we are setting our stall screams "entertainment" at the moment.
Of course the job that he and Curtis have to do at the moment is get us safe and they are doing quite well in that respect.
Beyond achieving that though, I feel a new management team and style wil be needed.
As I've said before, Brendan will do for me

If Guidollin gets us playing really well for him,
Then I think he should have another chance next season.
After 7 more game we should be able to see his worth

Well I'd be gutted if we went back to BR....
Id prefer to see us look at someone like Frank de Boer if we not going g to stick with Guidolin.

De Boer is not going to leave Ajax to come to a side that has just escaped relegation (hopefully). He's a big fish at a famous club - why would he honestly come to us.
I love Swans and believe anyone would be lucky to play or manage us, but realistically, we are not the best catch in the pond.
Yet to listen to some on here who constantly say that this one or that one isn't good enough for us - please get a dose of realism

Chris Wathan isn't going to get that. It would be all over SSN, the Internet and the tabloids at the same time. PL clubs don't have 'exclusive' managerial appointments.

Not if you're a journo at the Western Mail as the big picture one would always be in a national not the WM - they don't do a photo call just for the local journos and it would covered live on Sky as well in this case.

If you're at the Western Mail it's about getting the inside info before the big nationals. Far more likely that the club and possibly Rodgers are both interested but not at the done deal bit and the Express have jumped the gun. Doesn't mean it's not going to happen, just that it hasn't happened yet.

Nice to hear a level headed voice of reason when all around are talking nonsens.

We did play some very good attacking football under b rodge, laudrups team was probably better but I enjoyed the way we played under Rodgers.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Sorry but that for me is a crazy comment....
Any manager at pretty much any level except say the top 5 - 7 clubs in the world would love to manage a club in the premier league, especially one who has been there for 5 years. The money, draw to promote ones self is just too great. Now I accept we reportedly struggled to bring someone in when we were in the shite but the reasons for that are obvious to all. But i bet my house you ask most of those same managers again with a full pre-season, a chance to bring in their own players and to start a season and most if not all would bite your hand off.
The premier league is widely accepted as the best league in the world. So what young and ambitious manager wouldn't want to come?

I wish we'd get safe beyond all doubt before journos spouting this stuff about for it to bite us in the arse later.
Providing we stay up, I think we'd be foolish to turn down Brendan.. Even if he left after a couple of season I think he'd get us back on track. Slap a nice release clause on him and it's a win win really..

Yes, we are probably a bigger draw than Ajax at the moment, not because we are a bigger club, we probably never will be, simply because of the league we are in.

Any ambitious manager outside the very elite would be tempted by near enough any PL job at the moment. The money is likely to be huge, both in terms of salary and budget and it is the best shop window in world football.

Look at Benitez going to Newcastle, even though they are in the midst of a relegation scrap and he could have had his pick of clubs on the continent.

Question is would an ambitious manager want to come and work here. We all know the problems we had replacing Monk. Someone like De Boer would think long and hard about it. He'd probably have a word with Laudrup beforehand. They did play together at Ajax in 97/98.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

In fairness that was mid season when we looked well in the sh*t. If monk had gone 3/4 games earlier when we looked in a healthier position I think we'd have maybe got someone easier. Even then managers we would look at probably wouldn't like to move mid season anyway.

This story is made-up garbage, especially this part:

"Swansea currently have Francesco Guidolin as their boss but he’s keen on becoming Italy’s next manager.

Antonio Conte is expected to step down from his position as head coach of the Italian national team as he prepares to take over at Chelsea.

And Guidolin believes he can replace him."

Guidolin has never expressed either "keen" interest or confidence in becoming the next Italy manager. He only said that it could be true that he's being considered as he was being considered before the appointment of Conte.

As for Swansea fans saying that Guidolin needs to go, and that he hasn't done enough for Swansea -- they need to be more realistic and appreciate what has changed. During his first few matches it was clear that the players had been instructed to try hard to win the ball; it was also clear that they lacked the conditioning required to do this for a full match, consequently the late match collapses. This is probably why Guidolin decided that a more cautious approach might be necessary just for the remainder of this season.
During preseason, the conditioning can be improved significantly, but not during the middle of the season. Yet the lack of such conditioning is the main reason that Swansea's tactics are limited now.

it's no secret that benitez was desperate to come back to the premier league. and newcastle have a 50,000 seat stadium, much better name recognition, and a chairman who is apparently willing to spend a lot of money.

he was in a spot where he didn't really have much to lose. go down and it wasn't really his fault, stay up and he probably thinks he can build them up to a power again.

Could be the fanatical home support and if he gets it right he will be idolised. Maybe that reminds him of Liverpool? Or is it a Massive staying up bonus with a chance to revive the club next year? Or is it as simple as he likes Newcastle brown ale? Feck knows.
