Good post, l think Naismith would be the better option for us as well, l know what you're saying about JDG, but he can go wandering around with the fairies on times, when his head is on it he's fine.
If reports are correct, JDG isn't fit after undergoing groin surgery. Great player, but not what we need right now IMO, even if fully fit.
I don't get why a lot of people think that just because we are in a relegation battle we need tough/aggressive work horses to get our way out of it. How about we just go back to playing how we've always played. Take each game as it comes and play our way out of trouble. A fit de Guzman would go a long way to achieving this, the guy has abilities that none of our current midfield have. Add another couple of attacking players preferably a striker and winger and we'll have a chance

Believe me, a half fit tippy tappy player like JDJ isn't going to get us out of this mess, neither is a down and out clogger.........what we need is a cheap, available and skillful combatant midfielder if such a player exists.
a replacement is needed for shelvey. JDG would be a perfect replacement. i don't think he's going to be asked to step right into the XI, but we all know how effective he can be and how well he fits into the team. if he's fully fit and wins some points for the team in feb/march he will be well worth the effort.
he was one of me favorites over those 2 seasons. would love to see him back.

And of course a striker that can strike
Great post and exactly what somewhat haphazardly l tried to say earlier in the thread, a firing and confident SCFC team on the up, would be right up JDG's street, I can't see it being the same under these conditions, funny old game footie is though so myself or any other fan doesn't really know how things would turn out, we could definitely do with the boost a few signings would give us though.

It's because they grew up watching football in the 70's when footballers were hard as fook. The types that still chant 'get into them' etc

Do we need a replacement for Shelvey? We're only in one competition, have Britton, Cork, Ki and Gylfi to play in a 3-man midfield, and Fulton, King, Sheehan and Grimes available as cover.

How many of those players offer any sense of a goal threat?
Ok a good addition to the squad but if this our only transfer it is underwhelming. We needed one at least before tomorrow night to lift the crowd and team ... even Adabayour would be something ......
