Cool headed reflection; we lost to two slightly better teams that with a following wind we would have beaten. Given the injuries; very proud of the Welsh effort.

I disagree.
Look at our last two tournaments. They've hinged on an inability to make the right decision at the right time. Warburtons tip tackle against France and our inability to use the two men advantage.
Physically we're as good as any and when he decided against playing crash ball and stupid box kicks we have game changing ability.
It's the extra .1% that we lack. Me personally, I feel we need to have a similar structure and have a European league. Club rugby is far superior in the southern hemisphere, and it shows with the strength of their international teams.

I still think until we consign the pathetic mentality of "its OK as we beat the saes" and "oooh we only lost by 5 points, well done (despite giving the southern hemisphere teams 20 point head starts) then we'll always be the nearly men.

You are right Wayne but this squad has definitely stepped past the "gallant losers" label. We were a genuine threat to both the Aussies and the Springboks. Composure under pressure is the key but losing the likes of Jonathon "cowpoke" Davies and Halfpenny to name just two hamstrung us. Even then we were a whisker away on both occasions | |

The issues would be game specific. For example.
Why did Cuthbert come in to try to take the number 8 out? If he was commited to the tackle he should have been 100% sure of it.
The tackle was too risky. He should have left the number 8 for the inside players, in this case the scrum half as the scrum had wheeled thus making the blindside flanker useless (he was being held onto anyway just befor the scrum broke).
Mentally for that split second Cuthbert fked up and it cost us. There was other moments in the match too.
Get rid of all those mistakes and your chances of winning are increased. | |
