This is correct.
They do slow down your connection speed but the better ones still give you a speed good enough to watch a HD stream.

Anyone have experience with a TV guide addon? Trying to deicde between Renegades TV and FTV guide, both look very similiar although not sure what, if any differences there are between the 2 or which is infact prefered/better. Poor streams tonight. I'm going to bite the bullet and pay to get NBC live but struggling to register. Am I right in thinking that you have to subscribe to a US TV provider to obtain a UN & password for NBC?

I followed your advice JackFath and my stream was fine after, watched the last 15 mins with a perfect stream so cheers for that, sadly I'd missed both our goals by then with my stream constantly cutting out and refusing to reload - how the f*** did you find out how to fix that?! | |

Try turning off hardware acceleration.
System>Settings>Video>Acceleration. Uncheck the enable hardware acceleration box.
