What are we expecting next week? Pre-Election giveaway, almost certainly. But will it be tax cuts, pension reforms, both, or maybe something else?

Reduction of the maximum a family can claim in benefits
Raising of higher rate tax threshold to 50k
Reduction in wine and beer tax
Increase to lower rate tax threshold
Tightening of laws over tax avoidance so companies like Starbucks are taxed on earnings in the UK rather than profit?

Who knows...

"Who knows"….

That's not a bad attempt though OR. It would be good politics to do at least some of that.

To me Baz it just makes common sense

Yes - reduce the welfare bill a bit

Yes - Hit the tax avoiders especially the big companies using dodgy offshore HQ's

Yes - increase the top rate to 50k as quite a few people have now been pulled into it

Yes increase the lower rate threshold so less working people have to rely on top ups from the state

If we did all this it would stimulate growth as people would have more money in their pockets

Do you expect any more overt electoral bribes then, OR?

I see they've allowed people to take out their pension pots in cash Bazbob.

You borrowing a wheelbarrow or a ten ton skip?

I'm leaving it spread efficiently between my various holding companies Plumbs.

That way it will be there when I need it.

Robbie, do you think the Govt will have the time to change the law to allow people to cash in their annuities or is it an empty promise the coalition knows they cannot deliver as if Labour win they won't follow through any coalition policies?

Employment Up
Unemployment Down
Debt Down
Tax thresholds Up
Economy up

Odin is wondering just what Red Ed is going to be able to stab the coalition with other than his fallback - The NHS

Anyone with any sense will vote for a Tory majority in May
