The Official Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City FA Cup 4th Round Matchday Thread on 14:55 - Jan 24 with 1705 views | jackonicko | No way can I agree that a poor performance is at least good as a 'kick up the backside'. We already had that kick from a torrid performance last saturday. That's now two in a row. It's all about momentum, and right now our momentum is definitely backwards. Can't argue with the first red card. The second looked pretty harsh and hopefully we will successfully appeal. The thought of losing Siggy in the Premier League is a desperate one. We have little else to spark anything right now. Monk showed no leadership last saturday. He really needs to step up now.

But I can't see either being overturned. Ref sees foul by last man and a late tackle from behind.

The performance was shocking players not doing the basics. Little or no effort from some of our "creative" talent and to read that some of our "fans" want us to lose is a bit much to stomach.

Gomis isn't even a shadow of Wilf. Desperately missing Ki. Why is Dyer still getting game time?? Would have preferred Emnes starting. Where's our passing game gone? We couldn't string 2 passes together again today. Players constantly having to stretch to get the ball. Dreading next weekend away to the Saints. Honeymoon well & truly over Mr Monk [Post edited 24 Jan 2015 15:05]

The Official Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City FA Cup 4th Round Matchday Thread on 14:48 - Jan 24 by AnotherJohn | I guess you could say that everything went against us from the off, but it was another abysmal performance. Today again highlights the importance of this transfer window in ensuring that we have enough in the locker to survive. Although one would suppose that we are safe, getting 10 points is a challenging target when a team is on the slide. What we also saw today is that if we did get relegated (and probably lost a couple of our highly-paid stars) we might struggle to get back up. This is where Garry gets tested. I think we have been playing poorly for a while and scrapped by with some good luck. Are we now getting the results that match our performances? [Post edited 24 Jan 2015 15:09]

Agree. Sunderland home may become a huge match depending on performance at Southampton. Couple of results over Xmas have kept us afloat and first half of season we have over achieved - it is worth remembering that. We will always lose more than we win and need to dig in now. Another win mind you and everyone will be happy again - such is the way. Especially if Gomis scores - he is a problem now as he is going to have to over perform to get fans back on side - and today was not a good start.

The Official Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City FA Cup 4th Round Matchday Thread on 15:27 - Jan 24 with 1299 views | nantywatcher | I would not greatly crticise any individuals other than Nathan, but what is really worrying is as a team we look a mess. It looked like a group of people who had never met before. Something seriously wrong with the atmosphere around the club. Realistically we are in a relegation battle and the Sunderland game is MASSIVE. Swans needs a home crowd in a good POSITIVE mood, because once that is lost we are in free-fall (Glad I renewed my season ticket early .)

I'm not sure a win will banish the anxiety in itself. It will be the manner if it that will do that. A lucky win will only paper over the cracks. The most important period of our Premier League days starts now.

Being fair and being seen to be fair butt, having English teams being refereed by English only officials against Welsh teams might not be seen to be fair in some quarters. Swansea were a mid table Premier League team a few years ago and did not have one single penalty kick in the league that season and had 5 given against them, this season Swansea have had red card after red card against them for 'porthcawl' in most instances, something should be done for the integrity of the game, it doesnt look good on the English authorities to worldwide audiences. Its also putting refs in an unfair position as if they make a genuine wrong decision in favour of an English team it looks bad on them when the mistake might be genuine.

IMO the manner of the next win doesn't matter. Winning breeds confidence and breathing space. I'd happily take a 1-0 deflection off Gomis' snout as he is on his arse pleading with the ref for an imaginary foul and Southampton hitting the woodwork 50 times.
