Hatters handed duff draw in FA Cup

The draw for the FA Cup first round proper has been made and County's hopes of a money making cup run appear slim as we have been drawn at home against high flying League One side Peterborough United. Although manager Paul Simpson will be happy wth a home tie, the opponents could have been a lot easier.

A decent cup run could have meant that we'd be able to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window although we'll have to pull off a shock in round one to get some money in the coffers. Peterborough are currently lying in third place in the npower League One table and are only out of the automatic promotion places on goal difference.

Speaking about the draw, Posh manager Gary Johnson said:

"We will look forward to the tie when it is the next game. Stockport are a decent side and obviously we would have preferred to be at home, but we will look forward to it when it comes around.

I did think we were going to be drawn away at Brentford when those teams were left in the hat!"
