Hatters record win over Skelmersdale

County's first team recorded their second win in 5 days after beating Skelmersdale United 3-0 in a pre-season friendly game played at Stormy Corner. Once again manager Paul Simpson made various changes throughout the game as he tried to give all his squad a run out ahead of the season opener on 7th August.

Summer signing Barry Conlon opened the scoring for the Hatters from the penalty spot in the 7th minute, after winger Tommy Rowe had been upended in the box. The Hatters lead was doubled in the 19th minute as winger Ritchie Partridge set up one of the trialists (Ryan Kendall) for a goal before he also had a hand in the third goal in the 35th minute, as his cross was met by the head of midfielder Paul Turnbull.

County's home game against Rotherham United on Boxing Day has fallen victim to the harsh cold weather the whole of the UK has been encountering, as an inspection by a local based referee deemed that the surface will be unplayable.
