Oldham looking to change Dale game
Oldham Athletic are looking to switch the Bank Holiday game with Dale to a Tuesday night to save on Police costs.
No sooner had the fixture list been released, had Oldham come out and admitted that they would be looking at changing their home derby game with Dale to a Tuesday evening from the January Bank Holiday that the fixture list had given them. Police costs were cited as a reason.
From a financial point of view, it makes perfect sense. The fixture will be a high profile one for both sides, and as such will require a police presence probably unlike any other game this season. And given that Police costs can be double on a Bank Holiday, who could blame them in an era of financial reality.
But such a move will be a big blow to both sets of supporters, as one of the key games of the season is switch to a Tuesday night. Indeed, if the game was moved to a Tuesday, Dale will face a fixture list with our closest three games all as midweek fixtures.
