Will Saints Be Cast Adrift At The Bottom Before They Kick A Ball This Weekend

The Premier League table does not make good viewing unless you turn it upside down, Southampton are rock bottom 2 points adrift from the team above and 4 points off Ipswich 4th from bottom, so will that gap be worse before we kick off on Sunday.

Several of our relegation rivals will be playing today before we kick off against Liverpool at 2pm on Sunday, so here we take a look at our chances of still being in touching distance both after today's games and also the weekend as a whole.

The Lunchtime game on Saturday see's Leicester take on Chelsea at home, although at the moment the Foxes look out of sight from us, they are still in the relegation battle as a whole and are just 3 points above Crystal Palace in the drop zone, a good away win would be good for us and at least give us hope.

A raft of 3pm kick off see's Fulham host Wolverhampton Wanderers and with Fulham on 18 points looking to have a comfortable season, they could perhaps be within 3 wins of safety if they despatch Wolves, lets hope they do,

Aston Villa are at home to Crystal Palace and again we want an emphatic home win to actually give us a chance to draw level with Palace and perhaps even just 1 point away from safety, at least that would give us something to fight for.

Everton on 10 points are not yet clear of relegation worries and they take on Brentford at Goodison, like their West London rivals Fulham, a win for the Bee's could take them well clear of relegation worries, so fingers crossed.

Ipswich don't play until 4.30pm on Sunday and could actually be in the bottom 3 by the time they kick off, we have to hope that they are still 4th from bottom as that will mean that results have gone our way elsewhere, they take on Manchester United with their new manager, whatever his name is, I have ceased to take much notice of the Premier League these days, but it pains me to say I hope that the Red Devils are rejuvenated for this one and that they put a spanner in the tractor for Ipswich.

On Monday Newcastle take on West Ham and the Hammers sit uncomfortably on 12 points and if they lose up on Tyneside then a relegation battle is not off the cards for the East London club.
