Spare A Thought For Those Less Fortunate Than Ourselves At Christmas Time

Whilst we in our picturesque City enjoy idealic Christmas's with our loved ones, spare a thought for those who through accident of place of birth are less fortunate.

It is easy to forget at Christmas that whilst we enjoy our sumptuous Christmas dinners, just 18 miles away, members of the Salvation Army and other aid organisations will be working hard to try and bring Christmas cheer to those less fortunate.

Many of those in a Portsmouth postcode will not have a Xmas this year, partly because Christianity has not arrived in many areas in the Eastern part of the M27 corridor and partly because in a selfless act, many Portmuthians in the past few years have donated large parts of their income in order to help Tesco's build a new supermarket in the Fratton area to provide sustenance for those poor people living in a disaster area that Bod Geldof forgot.

Don't forget Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth and used his experiences to good measure when writing such fictional works as A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, The Chimes (Honest look it up) as well as more practical books like "Marrying your own sister a practical guide" that 1855 classic.

On a serious note though where would the fun in football be without Portsmouth as our rivals, lets face it Bournemouth just don't cut the mustard and could never take the place of our Pompey friends, football is about rivalry and Saints V Pompey is up there with most in English football and perhaps more than many, because unlike say Arsenal & Spurs, this just isnt about football its about as Charlie Dickens put it "A Tale Of Two Cities"

So sincere Christmas wishes to those in Eastern Hampshire , perhaps on just one day of the year both sides can be charitable to each other, wish each other a Happy Christmas (although not a prosperous New Year) and remember that like Oasis without either Gallagher, brother it would be very boring without the other around.

So Merry Christmas Skates from all the Scummaaaaaaaaahssssss ( We just don't get it)
