I can remember when ken Monkou had Ian Wright in his pocket all afternoon, so much so that Wright stamped on Monkou’s foot near the end of the match, then you had 2 great left backs in Le saux & statham, Mark Dennis was the best left back never to play for England, but may not be on the pitch at the end of the game, i would pick Ivan Golac over Jason Dodds, Watson & Nicholl were a great partnership, Glenn Cockerel, Jimmy Case & what a left foot on Dave Armstrong but players from the 80’s, 90’s seemed to give 100% don’t know if that’s because they got what most players of today yearly not weekly or because then they weren’t looking to use the club as a steppingstone |

I think puel handling of Charlie is spot on,fans were saying that after 40 mins against Sparta he was huffing & puffing, maybe he's still to get back to full fitness after last years injuries, let's say puel played him & he broke down, the fans would bemoan that fact, lets jays injury is just a slight one, but does go to show we've got to man manage jay & Charlie so we get the best from them this season, I think Redman will get better as the season progresses, he's still learning his central role & with his pace will frighten central defenders & hopefully get a few pens |

Long is a great number 10, like Peter Beardsley who ran & ran & made most of Linekers goals, Long hasn't got that anymore, he hasn't got that target man, yes he should have scored, I don't see Redman as a striker, but he could pass as a no10, does our manager know who the best front two are?, but against a poor decent team we did well & if long had taken one of his two guilt chances we could of won it, but would have taken a point that we deserved, we looked more solid at the back, only worry that if we don't start taking our chances we could end up in a dog fight at the bottom |

The problem as I see it is we will have a long season, the extra games playing in Europe bring extra stains to the team, yes the midfield is strong in numbers & ability, but it's the defence & attaching parts that I worry about, Teams that are in our mini league (6-11 positions) have done good business Stoke Bony Martin Indi both would have done a good job for us, man city are playing most of their players wages who are on loan, Martin Indi can play both as a CB or LB maybe we could have got him on loan with a view to a Permanent deal, the problem I see in getting people in Jan is that if they take 4-8 weeks to settle in than that might too late, it's all to much of a gamble for me, but have my fingers that I am wrong |

I hope that the season goes well but I think that competing in four competitions we might be a little light, Jr staying is a result but Charlie & JR lack of games last season due to injury is a gamble & Charlie looks not fully fit, you have Zara & Bony going to stoke on loan both could have done a job for us, the lack of reinforcements is a bigger concern, we are putting a lot on the shoulders of Fonte & VVD, with Fonte having a long season with playing in games in Euro16, hoping that they don't get injured, we have brought well but mostly in mid field & players that are good but will improve, the money spent on players have come mostly from the sale of players, I know that we can't compete against the main players, but we have the fifth highest season ticket price & must be competing with our main competitors(West Ham,Stoke,Everton etc) in the last few years we have improved, I think they hope that if anything goes wrong that our youngsters will come to the rescue, but fear that we will panic buy in Jan |

Hopefully it's our normal slow start but we should have at least got 6 points from the start of the season, I think we should have got a striker with the fitness concern of Jr & Charlie, I think we missed out on Remy & Zara, Bony has a proven track in prem, Jr has again been linked with Hull & West Brom, CB & RB is another concern will vvd & fonte last the whole season, yosh makes mistakes they normally result in a goal, chambers heading for Middlesbrough would have been a good signing as he can play as CB/RB, fans have said on this site about a CB who can play in mid field what about Rob Jones who is surplus at manure |
