VD wants to be in the Dutch squad for the World Cup... he has to play, and play well... even if that means for Saints. Otherwise he's stuffed! So if he really has ambitions, he'd better get his head out of his ass, apologise to the club and knuckle down to do what he's paid for.

Saints hold all the cards. VD is an idiot if he thinks otherwise.

Well, what a saga!
Van D!ck/Liverhampton just wanted to save money by not handing in a transfer request.

He's behaved totally unprofessionally, and I'm sure other clubs will take notice of his/his agents tactics/behaviour. Other clubs may not want to have a player like him who will probably want to jump ship for more money after a year or two. I'd say he's really limited his future employment options.

He may not play for Southampton (or anyone) until January (and then not to Liverhampton), and that will ruin his chances to be in the Dutch squad for the World Cup. Good. He doesn't deserve to play in the World Cup after this behaviour.

I was quite impressed actually.... the whole team did well. Clyne was very impressive, as was Fox, Ward-Prowse, Lallana and Sharp. Hooiveld and Fonte were as steady as always.
