Agreed. But on the hopeful side look at De Gea when he first joined Man U. If anything he was even worse than Nardi under crosses and corners but worked hard on his game and ended up being one of the best keepers in the world. Not suggesting Nardi can reach that level obviously! He's 30 though so still has a few years left. My prayer is that the coaching team just spend every training session bombarding him with crosses with Jimmy attacking them in order to toughen him up to them |

Surprised but also warmed by the news. Plus playing in Portugal may suit his strengths - he was always better going forward than defending |

I really can’t agree with you there Brian. Up until one minute full time Nardi was immense and kept us in the game. Two double saves plus the one on one towards the end of the game. Ultimately, however, we lost because of two moments - Nardi choosing a pushing battle over staying on his line with eyes on the ball and Frey yet again missing an easy chance. No idea why he can’t put away that one kind of chance but he’s done it a couple of times now. Just goes to show how football is a game of moments. That said, we really REALLY need to take Nardi off all training apart from how to deal with corners. Coventry obviously identified this as a weakness and exploited it |

FFS. I had Nardi on a 9/10 before the 94th minute but what the fukc is he doing there bothering himself with pushing a player out of the way. If he just stayed on his line that header falls into his lap |

Big Danny Shittu's definitely a lover not a fighter but when helping to reassure punters away from the ruckus he is hit by a stray barstool, you can see him losing his rag and laying out all the perpetrators and their crew. Takes absolutely no prisoners before calmly returning to his cheese n onion crisps and drink of choice. |
![](/images/avatars/5500.gif) | Forum Reply | Paul Smyth's long throw... at 09:17 11 Feb 2025
Let's be honest here, people - Paul Smyth does not possess a long throw. However, I've come to love the traditions surrounding it. Someone else goes to take said throw, then leaves it to Smyth. The small winger dries the ball on his shirt and takes a moment to smile broadly and chat to some fans. He arches his spine back over the Loftus Road hoardings 0.5 yards from the pitch then flings himself forward and flexes his tiny arms and chest to hurl the ball someway towards the six yard box straight onto the head of Jimmy Dunne/the nearest oppo defender (delete as appropriate, but in the air Dunne usually eats the souls of anyone within his gravitational pull). I do not think this routine works without Dunne, but it's still usually quite entertaining. |

Love the guy. Far more skilled than he looks and actually a bit quicker than he appears. Although he does have a very funny gait. Added bonus that he smashes around the place and should be done for af-Frey against oppo CBs each week |
