I know subsidies are a part of this, but it's $7 (so about 5 quid) for me to get a return train ticket from the suburbs into downtown Chicago, that's about a 25 minute train ride each way, on comparable quality trains. It's another $5 for unlimited bus and "el" (tube equivalent) rides when I'm downtown.
It's not quite the scope and network of London but it's not a million miles away. I simply can't wrap my head around Public transport in London being so expensive now, it's crazy. |

It's weird, for years I thought "it's so frustrating to lose the games we should win and win the ones we shouldn't". Turns out it's just as frustrating the other way around.

Respectfully disagree. I think he hesitates rather than fully commiting. Fraction of a second earlier he hits that the right side of the ball and it's a goal.
I know it comes across as a knock on him and god knows sticking your head in there at that height is asking for a kick in the face, I'd not have even tried it myself. Thought he was our best player overall today, I just think he'll be thinking tonight "if I hadn't hesitated a touch that would have been a goal" |

The reason American sports are competitive is because it has a draft system. The worst team doesn't get relegated, they get to pick the best "young" player the next year. Great equaliser, but only works because it's a closed league with a) no relegation/promotion and b) self contained (no NFL player wants to go and play outside the US)
Pros and cons, and I personally move the US system, but wouldn't work in the UK |

I think, but could be wrong, that they've instructed the linesmen to err on the side of letting things go, knowing that VAR will sort out the close ones.
It makes sense from one angle -if you give an offside and VAR says that's wrong then you've got no way of adjusting the situation - but I think it's forced them into this situation where they can't just go with "linesmen call stands"
Could definitely be wrong about that understanding though |

totally understand where you're coming from especially in terms of who is really suffering here.
But you have to think that minds are going back to 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and the world stood by and said "ok". Does anybody really believe that if someone draws a map with new lines on to "finish the war" that Putin isn't going to come back in five years and say "well I got away with it twice, I'll just take the rest now" |

I think it's this last factor which is the most relevant. If we want the best loan players in the future (and, possibly, pay less for those loans) then showing we are actually helping those players play and develop isn't something other clubs will overlook.
Style of play too, it's why Warburton had an easier time getting good players on loan than Ainsworth did. |

Yeah I'll be honest while I'm never happy with a loss, that performance, against that team, is something we should hold out heads up about. And I'd far rather not get the rub of the green now than when it really makes a difference |
