Agree with Sydney - Cairns is gateway but head north - we liked Port Douglas - access to Barrier Reef but also Cape Tribulation rainforest if have couple of days. Prawns bought off back of boat one of nicest lunches ever |

Have to congratulate the detail given already - Peter Hucker even mentioning Real Groovy records & was in there yesterday spending too much on vinyl. NZ while small can have challenging roads so don’t underestimate travel times. Even as Aucklander you have to include QueenstownWanaka, New Plymouth is pretty place if can see Mountain but isolated. Far north of North Island is stunning & March/April is great time to visit. Wine regions if like that side of things - Central Otago near Queenstown, top of Sth Island & Hawkes Bay. While in Auckland do get ferry over to Waiheke - 40min trip & see harbour and island has beautiful beaches, more wineries & plenty of places to eat - Man O War is far end and beautiful spot if weather good - they have bus out there. Our local QPR group have had couple of visitors for one of our Sunday lunches & happy to help if any questions |

Thanks for another year Clive & even from other side of the world loved reading that & the bond of following our bloody team. 240 connected to NZ R’s down here now & shocked to have some poor youngsters join our regular pub reflections on latest shitshow. Can we hope for less stress in 2025… |

Merry Xmas from NZ & dawned sunny here on Waiheke Island. As a side note any tips on getting a 12yo dog post hip operation to take a bloody leak would be much appreciated. Silly old sod is refusing |

He damn well does need to apologise 😁 Immediately accepted & enjoy trip. I’m stupidly over there in June next year - QPR to remain unbeaten |

Not sure NZ has ever got him out - in tests anyway. Generational talent for sure |

It’s killing the game in NZ with our smaller playing pool. Anyone world class is going into world circuit for the $$ ( can’t be blamed for that) & just had our summer season released - one home test series completed before Xmas & summer has even begun. Rest is just one dayers & 20:20 which all blurs into nothing minute it’s finished. Fine having as part of calendar but have to keep tests |

Seen a lot of him at start of his career for local club in A League Wgtn Phoenix. Very skilful and scored goals from start of his career. Good enough for Bayern to sign him which is mind boggling. Think he started ok and even got a few sub appearances but clearly too big a step. Also couple of injuries haven’t helped. Lot of talent there and would be big opportunity for him - interesting punt. |

20:20 really a risk of ruining the game here in NZ with several top players opting out of NZ contracts to play in India & now STH African leagues. Kane Williamson latest to opt out so our best batsman joins best bowler just playing occasional game for NZ. Can’t blame them chasing the $$ as nowhere near the salaries that Indian/Aussie & England players get. Fear NZ will end up like West Indies with weak national team & best players on 20:20 circuit. |

Negative - had 3yr spell hitting 30 where lost best mate to suicide, my Dad & my Mum. Positive- at start of that horror show met my now wife of 23yrs & birth of our 2 girls Negative - wife went for mammogram being assured it “was nothing” - wasn’t nothing and pretty shocking couple of weeks waiting for prognosis with 2 girls under 10. Positive - 14yrs post that time & make sure we get on with things vs putting it off. |

Cricket - tests NRL - rugby league Rugby - tests only & have to add that to retain NZ citizenship. Been lucky to go to Aussie Open tennis & loved that but don’t watch otherwise. |

Just there last month & from media reports thought we were headed to disaster zone of homeless & drug addicts etc. Pleased to say while we saw glimpses it was way exaggerated & we loved our 3-4 days. Fine day definitely do harbour under Golden Gate & Alcatraz was worth the visit. We also did a SF Love Tour which is a couple of hours in a VW Combi van seeing the city - excellent guide & great way to see different districts to go back to. Did a walking food tour of Mission District & that’s another good way to see city - some excellent graffiti art & can see impact of tech money as walk a few blocks - gentrification at pace. Enjoy |

Scoured the world for that list and even got to NZ with Paulsen. Wgtn are top of A league and he’s been great part of their success- couple of penalty saves as well. Surprised he’s 6 foot as looked little shorter to me. Sure will be a long shot but congrats to article author for their coverage |

Like many on here he is the image of QPR that hooked me as a youngster - even from opposite side of the world. Brilliant player & unique character . Very sad news for morning here but also smiling at memories of him… |

They’ve managed to keep it going with 2 seasons to follow of Bosch Legacy - no plot spoilers other than standards are maintained. Think latest iteration of True Detective with Jodie Foster looks good and if want couple of hours of outback Aussie true crime with very odd cast of characters check out Last Stop Larrimah on Netflix |

Thanks as always Boston. Lot to like there but Dykes does really confuse at times- will ignore that and appreciate Chair & Willock |

Honestly think AB arrogance would be fair call other tournaments but expectations very low at start of tournament. Foster has been dead man walking for past year or two & pleased he goes out with head high. Let’s see who we’re playing next hour or two… |
