Most of my point is that we are responsible for what we do, and a lot of what we don't do. That is true whatever your race. White people aren't special in this or any regard. I hope you'd think so too. It seems to me you would also agree that victims of crime are not responsible for what people do to them (certainly not always). What you're saying is that these men, who act with unspeakable cruelty, specifically target their innocent victims because of their race. Apart from the horrors of the violence and subjugation, you're saying this targeting is wrong too. I agree. There is no moral quandary in holding both opinions: Racial targeting of innocent white girls by Muslim men is wrong. Those men believe they are superior to those girls. Very few Muslims think that way. Obviously some do. Their ignorance and actions are violent and backwards. Racial targeting of innocent men and women of colour by police is wrong. Very few white British vocally support racism, but it seems most people prefer to pretend it doesn't exist. My argument is that this ignorance is violent and backwards too. It's offensive that you would use such appalling racist treatment and experiences of those young girls to set up a strawman argument in an attempt to sweep white supremacy under the carpet. |

ls it a wonder that BME friends and neighbours choose not to share their experiences of racism when the default response from most of us is to rubbish it as nonsense, or dismiss it as a regrettable "one-off"? You don't have to be a card carrying EDL/NF/Britain First member to be a white supremacist. Overriding people's legitimate real-life experiences with your opinion demonstrates the belief that yours is the true voice, the genuine arbiter, you know best. A lot of black voices are trying to tell us something, most of us are telling them they're wrong. Thing is, it's not our fault if we felt that way once. We were taught to feel that way...our country was built on the idea. But it is our fault if we refuse to listen now, and change our minds/behaviour when the truth is staring us in the face as it is. Sporadic violence at protests is abhorrent, but it's also a deliberate distraction. It should be condemned, and will be condemned, but it should not be made the focus by racists who do not want change. Good and bad happens to all of us regardless of the colour of our skin. But good and bad happens to us because of the colour of our skin all the time too. Silence is violence. This forum has a problem with racism. Let's kick it out. |

They don't need to do it to us. I know it's not the same, but I run hospitality/bars/catering/turnstiles at a club in London with average home attendance (last season in our own ground) of around 2700. We charge £12 for adults, £5 for concessions, and u13's are free. Season ticket holders get a pint in our clubhouse every day for £3, and dinner for £7. We pay London living wage or above to everyone. We have no TV money, and no rich backer. We survive on the income we make on match days, and what the commercial team (who do a good job) can get in, which means it's an absolutely vital source of income to us (90+%), compared with around 12.5% of revenue at Southampton in 17/18. Anyway, we deliberately lose potential margin in order to remain easily accessible to our core support, even though we're surrounded by, and supported by, a lot of people who will pay twice what we charge (metropolitan elite, remember). Plus, since reducing (yes) the price of the cheapest pint from £3.50 to £3 after last season, we've seen spend per head across site go up. We look after our traditional support, and they look after their club. Who'd have thunk it. I'll always love and follow Southampton, but Premier League football is soulless and rotten. Our club, like most others, is knowingly pricing out traditional support. I don't think anyone should be an apologist for it, there's no excuse. See some of you at Craven Cottage next week for some expensive food and drink in the Special Energy Drink Cup. |

'84 to '86 apparently, yeh. I just started working here when we moved back into Champion Hill last month, and I'm a Saints supporter, so I don't know much about my adopted club. Learning fast enough though. We've got 3000 through the gates the last three league games, going well. |

It seems pretty obvious that the club will sign a CB this summer, so I don't know what everyone is worried about? A couple of terrible January panic buys aside, we're normally pretty good at signing players if we have the green light to buy. We gambled on keeping VVD and lost, it was stupid. We'll (belatedly) replace. Still not convinced Gibson is the answer. According to whoscored (I don't have much else to go on), he's weak in the air. Happy to be proved wrong. But perhaps that's why we're seeing Vestergaard links. He's a very big boy. Anyway, they know what they're doing (in the summer, most of the time). |

Can anyone tell me what it is about Gibson's style that would make him the ideal signing for us? I've said before, his stats are very average, but I've not seen him play for a long time. |

I'm in Peru right now. They know how to support a football team! |

What is it about Gibson that makes him stand out from our current centre backs? Why do you want him to come to Saints so much? Or is it just a need for a new face, don't care who? |
| Forum Reply | Gibson deal done at 17:38 22 Jun 2018
Ben Gibson's stats are a load of rubbish. I didn't watch Middlesbrough once last season, so I don't know if the stats are lying. Could someone who did watch 'boro explain why we're after him? He doesn't seem like an aerial powerhouse, ready to command a successful premier league defence... |

The thing is, you're running out of people you actually want to take your bait. It's just your little gang of noxious, racist mates. A total mess of human beings either too stupid to understand what they're saying, or just cowardly little fvckers. I guess it's both in most cases. Nick, you need to rein this in pal. If you don't understand why this thread is racist, then you need to find someone who does and give them the power to moderate it into oblivion. There are almost 40'000 people in our city who are not white. How many are going to read the forum threads on your site and want to join in? How many white people who aren't racist want to read this? It seems like you don't care about them, and would rather protect a small group of scumbags who keep parroting the same old sh1t every time someone blows the dog whistle. In other news. We'll score a few today. We have no choice! Glad Redmond's been benched. Interesting to see how this diamond goes with Tadic in behind. COYR |

I am ashamed to have any association with any of you. Your ignorance is staggering and utterly sad. |

No doubt Liverpool would have bought Van Dijk, but there's no way Les could have sold him to them after all that. Besides, no bid from LFC or anyone else. I'd also argue there's no other player in the squad that's particularly attractive to the rich clubs at the moment. Most of our squad is young, though, so plenty of time for them to show us how good they are. Hopefully that happens, and hopefully we keep most of them. I'm not criticising him, but neither can I credit someone for keeping a player no one tried to buy, and other players that don't exist. Lemina looks a good buy. Hoedt looked average last night, but perhaps not the best game from which to judge! Genuine question though... would you say it's Les who got us into this mess with Liverpool in the first place? In reporting Liverpool, and refusing to sell to them, is Les just clearing up his own mess at Van Dijk's expense? |
