Really can’t remember who has ever defended the slow, possession based stuff at the back as being the best option for this squad. We’ve always been at our best when playing at pace and looking to go forward within the structure McNulty has developed. It was even the same last season when we had less options in the squad. The argument was whether the game’s over reliance on ball retention or playing out dangerously was ingrained or whether there could be a shift. Time will tell and it’s hoped managers and players can see the benefits of playing a style which is entertaining and effective. |

City leading after going more direct. Something Guardiola noted this week about teams like Bournemouth and Newcastle progressing with a style that’s becoming more noticeable. We were direct when required today too. As we have been previously to good effect. Is there a change in the air? |

Eh? We played well first half but weren’t clinical with the chances. Second half we were. Good performance with Ayinde and Okeke standing out. Fitzo’s comments in the podcast were proven to be very astute. When we play at pace with the wide CBs pushed on we look a good team. Well worth a listen. |

One question that hasn’t been really answered is whether the last EGM and voting through the creation of all those new shares was necessary for the Ogdens to get involved? The amount and percentage of control wasn’t properly explained at that stage. Happy to be corrected with details of the specifics. |

If the pitch can’t take a flurry of light snow then we may as well give up and move games somewhere else. The bigger immediate concern is the rain that’s forecast for tomorrow when Hornets play. This is not a dig at Hornets so let’s try and avoid all those debates, but if that game is played what confidence will there be in our game on Tuesday going ahead? |

Would hope Hornets would be amenable to moving further fixtures if required. Similarly you’d hope Dale have contingencies in place (Accrington?) if there are further issues. |

Noticed on Twitter that Hornets are at home to Widnes in the Challenge Cup on Sunday. So that’s three games in four days at Spotland. Looking further forward at their fixtures (and they’ve moved one in another cup to Mayfield on 1st Feb), on top of Dale’s scheduled matches there are a staggering 12 games due to played on the pitch in 46 days. And we’ll still have five home league games left after that. |

True, though if that was the case with the surface obviously impacted in that corner, you’d think we’d have done similar work as the centre circle. It’s all guesswork of course as there hasn’t been much mention of the specific issues there. It’s obvious it was the main concern after last night though. |

That remains the forecast and with the winds that are predicted on Friday that should help dry the pitch too. As many have noted, the corner of the Pearl St/Main Stand looks a worry and it has to be properly covered over the next couple of days to try and at least prevent some water soaking into it. An opportunity appears to have been missed to do similar work as the centre circle which played quite well last night. Be interesting to see what effect the dryjecting has today as well. |

Don’t think the final is there. Decent performance. That corner of the pitch is a real concern though. It needs work and then properly covering to stop any significant rain falling on it. |

Nope, although Armstrong doesn’t get near the squad much for league games now. Horne has done well since coming on at the back. |

Yeah that corner has been an issue before and was one of the parts that was needed to be covered before previous postponements. Visible on the coverage tonight. Wonder why they didn’t do similar work to the centre circle there? Not as big an area and could have helped prevent future issues there. |

0-0 Amazingly still 7th with six games in hand on Yeovil. Nine points behind Gateshead with five games in hand. |

Cieran Slicker, former on loan keeper who played at Sheff Wed in the League Cup, comes on as a sub for Ipswich. |

Irrespective of where the money is coming from, I’m struggling to understand whether there should be any debate that it has to be spent. The club statement notes that last summer an external consultant advised “that the drainage failure was occurring below the root zone and that, ultimately, only a full reconstruction would guarantee a permanent resolution.” To clarify “only a full reconstruction” Now of course, other consultants may advise on other options, but the time has come to properly sort the situation out. It’s been proven that trying other routes and hoping is a false economy. |

It’s the part about the centre circle which prevents that. To dig it all up and immediately play on it probably wouldn’t be possible. |
