I drove down High Street for the first time in a good while and from the Train Station I have to say it really is making progress,

Perhaps the council is starting to put its vision into reality.

Not quite ready for a round of applause but I thought that road was dead and buried.

The food part has always done well. They are def interested in cheap grog though and I thought the Potters would undercut the Wig.

Everyone to their own, but I certainly wouldn't entertain eating in the Potters Wheel, and you are certainly right about the clientele and the cheap grog

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

i walked from the station down high st, and when i reached the taffic lights there was a distict smell of urine and disinfectant mix ,then as i came to castle garden i realised the wind was blowing up wine street , I was told it always smells that way most days but worse on a sunday as most people urinate in the doorways, I must admit there is nothing in Swansea that i cannot get any where out of town,

Wind street is dying on its ass. The opportunity was lost to turn it into cafe quarter. Places like the Uplands offer a far better night out.

The Potters Wheel is a Wetherspoons. The food is the same there as any other Spoons I've ever been to. Not high quality, but fills a gap.

The beer is decent and cheap, and people watching the regulars is half the fun of going there.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Does "Gummy" still drink there? He's a Mr. Magoo lookalike who just looks at you and goes " ah ah ah lorries! I drove lorries up in Aberdare"

Quite probably. Not been there for a month or two.

Used to have a drink in there on the odd occasion. There are quite a few characters in there. Some quite sad lonely old men grouping together. There but for fortune.... Like most people in Swansea they are fine once you get chatting to them. It is the tw@ts that can't hold their drink that get remembered though and give all a bad name as a result.

Have to agree, give me a place with characters any day. The closer to the Star wars cantina the pub is, the more at home I feel.

The Palace has had essential repairs done to it. I belive it is water tight now. Surprised about the Wig and Pen. I thought drinks were a bit pricey there and they have stopped all food I believe. I always thought the Elysium would have involved less travelling for most of the punters. The Wig being further away.

The wig has gone cheap as chips £2.00 a carling and under £2.50 for Heineken / Coors

Chuck in decent live music on a fri and sat and it is really busy , plus it's a nice place to have a pint

As for wind st now the Adelphi and aspers have gone it's clearly geared to the youngsters but good luck to them I say.

Older people can still go to sa1 for a drink or the uplands if you like being surrounded by posers and paying £5.00 a pint!

Going to be controversial here. Part of the reason for the decline of High St was allowing the job centre, a registered charity, and social housing to open on the same street.

I remember when I finished Uni I had to sign on there. Some bint telling me how to find a job when she had worked there from 16,
