Pellegrino starts work on the South coast today, Arron Sanders takes a look at what he will be doing.
Mauricio Pellegrino will today meet members of the Saints squad for the first time as he begins work ahead of the new season.
The Argentine, who was confirmed as the clubs new manager last week, has arrived on the South coast having spent some time back home in Argentina.
He will begin his day by settling into his new office at Staplewood, he will meet a host of his new players for the first time, as they return for pre-season fitness testing.
While the clubs international stars will not be reporting back until towards the end of next month, those who ended their season with the final game of the last League campaign are due to head back to work.
Among those are the likes of Oriol Romeu, Shane Long and the player who most peoples eyes will be on Virgil Van Dijk, will be among those reporting back today, albeit just to check on their fitness levels before another few days off ahead of pre-season training begining.
For Pellegrino it is a chance to make a good first impression on members of the squad.
The players set off on their holidays with Claude Puel still as Saints manager, but have seen a change at the helm of the team during the close season, and Pellegrino will be keen to make an immediate impact on the squad.
He has already had to give his approval on transfer issues with Jay Rodriguez nearing a move to West Brom, while Jan Bednarek is expected to confirmed as his first signing imminently.
Both of those deals were well advanced before Pellegrino was appointed, but nonetheless he was given the courtesy of all transfer moves being run past him.
Are you excited about the season ahead under the new manager Saints fans? No doubt there are lots more twists and turns before August yet.
