Saints Confirm Jordy Clasie Signing Wednesday, 15th Jul 2015 22:56 Southampton Football Club have confirmed that Jordy Clasie has joined the club from Feyenoord after signing a five year contract.
Saints supporters will be relieved to hear that Saints have finally got their man after first being linked with Clasie a year ago after Ronald Koeman joined the club from Feyenoord where he had been a big part in the players development.
Clasie confirmed that the Koeman Factor had been a big draw to him in an interview on the clubs official website, whilst also revealing that after following Saints fortunes over the past year he had been so impressed that he would have still joined even if Koeman had not been here.
Saints are equally delighted to have finally landed their man who they consider one of the most sought after young midfielders in Europe at present.
24 year old Clasie also has leadership qualities having captained Feyenoord and continues to be a member of Holland,s international side.
This is another piece in the jigsaw for Saints this season and if they can now land a quality central defender then they will surely feel that they have a squad with a lot more depth than last term as well as more quality.

Supposedly £7 Million with potential add-ons of £1.4 Million, looks like a smart bit of business. Welcome aboard Jodie!

Clasie player. Should fit right in next to big Vic. Now for a top draw centre back.

Great news! Good article on Daily Echo from Les Reed explaining that we are not got to buy players for the sake of it. Probably will still attract some silly comments from certain Saints fans though!

Great news indeed, and a very good price. The only question is whether Clasie is physically strong enough at the moment, so I hope fans give him a bit of time to adapt. He'll be fine alongside Big Vic but we may need to be patient

One down, one to go. Interesting that Van Dijk didn't even make the bench for Celtic last night

JDawg - I got excited about that, but VvD was suspended from the Inter game last season

There is still work to do, especially with a centre back. Only Juanmi is not a replacement for someone we've "lost". The new guys look good enough to take us further forward and with the addition of JRod we now look more dangerous up front. Success is always built on a sound defence. Koeman knows that and showed that last year, but this CB is critical. I would also like to understand which guys he has chosen from the youngsters to step up. Last year we saw Reed, Ward Prowse and Targett make the step up, who will it be this year? Opinions................

I'm guessing McQueen, Hesketh, and Sam Gallagher will be back from injury. I suspect the CBs Turnbull and Stephens will go out on loan to Championship teams because I think putting them in a prem team would be difficult from playing in League 1

Just to mention Clasie has a lower centre of gravity and a tighter turning circle than Schneiderlin. Morgan was string but could be a bit ponderous. Clasie might be more useful when opponents park the bus.
