I’m beginning to think Williams is as bad as Martin - incapable of picking the right players in the right roles due to blindness caused by his coaching by numbers “philosophy “.

This is why watching women’s football these days is far more enjoyable. They play far more off the cuff and attack at will with no little skill I might add. It’s almost like watching football in the 70’s and 80’s when such formulaic nonsense as we have today was unheard of.

Still hurting huh? That man wasted two precious years of this club, (our club’s) time and any hope of returning to the PL barring a miracle

For some people failure isn’t a bad thing. Especially when they know their contract will be paid up in full leaving them wealthier than you or I could ever be. It’s called the “Monk method of enrichment”.

And this “I’m not going to change my style or principles” when he had neither to begin with. Just means he can jet off somewhere nice all the sooner. Ditto Monk.

He’s a premier league manager because Southampton bought the bull poo and took him on after failing here. He had ample opportunity to get us to the play offs but he preferred to make it all about him instead. Fraud? Oh most certainly.

We wouldn’t even be having this conversation if Leeds had shown up at the play off final. And Russell would be unemployed. The fact that he screwed the autos up with the squad he had, being beaten to second place by newly promoted Ipswich says it all.

Paid dividends for Swansea? By losing 17 out of 21 games and missing out on the playoffs as a result. Cooper did much better and his football, although more defensive still got us to 2 plays offs in succession.

Martin scraped promotion with a ridiculously strong Southampton squad which a better manager would have achieved automatic promotion with at the very least.

It’s quite obvious that our last three managers had no idea how to coach players individually and improve them. Or even devise a system that they could thrive in, instead moaning about how poorly funded they were , getting money then wasting it and wanting more. Managers like Burrows knew how to get the best of what little they had available.

The big question is-can he?

I’ve not seen anything to suggest he is anything other than a robotic statistics driven administrator. One plan and one plan only, does he have any independent nous or instinct to actually pick a system that suits the players he already has and improve them , mould them into that system? I don’t think so.

Neither do I think he has the balls to make the biggest decision of all and that’s to give Matt Grimes a spell on the bench and Darling the Captaincy. It will never happen but until it does we are going to sink deeper and deeper into the mire. During the first half yesterday we didn’t even compete.

The wurzel commentator is doing my head in. After Grimes sp*nks away a free kick “he’s capable of much better than that”. Is he???

Unfortunately it’s all about him - the legend in his own lifetime Matty Grimes. He has never shown desire for the team to succeed - lukewarm in attitude and ability sadly. Time for the unthinkable to actually happen……

You’re forgetting a centre midfielder. What’s the point of getting other wingers who won’t get any decent ball??

They are if they can’t motivate a team for the first and even more clinically the second half . Or continuing to pick a midfield pairing that has never worked - the both should not even get on the bench. Start with Darling as Captain and two out of Franco/Allen/ Abdullai in CM. It may take a few games to gel but it has to be worth trying.

You can’t coach passion and you can’t coach desire. These players shouldn’t be allowed to take the field without either. The real problem with just a couple of players like this will seep through the rest like a dose of clap.

I remember a certain Swansea midfielder playing on after an ACL injury against West Ham in the cup nearly thirty years ago. Sheer focus and desire. This modern generation couldn’t hold a candle to those boys - they played with their hearts on their sleeves. Some of ours need electric shock therapy just to get their kit on

I think that occurred during the Cardiff game - Grimes ignored a penetrating pass which would have put in in on goal 4 or 5 times. So another question for you - did Grimes play a ball through in either game - a pass that could have put one of our forward players in on goal? I can’t remember any. Not just from these past two games either
