Nail hit squarely on the head.

Who thought some of these players had the physicality or desire to play Championship football.

Saito & young Morgan showing more courage in the air, in the tackle and in showing for the ball than Andersen, Madsen & Celar tonight, shameful.

Morgan? Ffs, he's 18, playing his second full 90 minutes in 3 days with Celar & Madsen offering nothing, give the lad a break, has courage and shows real potential,

Andersen meanwhile, someone should check his birth certicate, ambles around like a 40 year old, no heart, no desire, no will to win, beyond shocking tonite.

3rd choice Right Back with a Chair in front providing minimal cover & support up against Ben Doak, not sure much if any thought went into that one.

Santos hung out to dry but bringing Ndersen to compliment Madsen & Celars lack of effort left us playing 8 v 11.

Yet again no press, no clear attacking style of play, players just not suited to this division not helped by a naive Manager.

Bush Gazette reported 150 police at scene & police horses were stabled next door in Hammersmith Police Station so would have been outside but definitely not inside.

15 arrested, 6 police & 6 joe public injured so it was a fair to do, even by Saturday Night @ The Hammersmith Palais standards.

I was in there that night was 100% Rangers, started off good natured, Bouncers tried to get some semblance of order and it all kicked off, with the Bouncers getting chased out the front doors and down the road.

Memory serves me right that was collective pre cup final exuberance that spilled into jumping on the stage, chasing the bouncers out of the club and down the road to Hammersmith Nick to summon assistance,

Mini riot ensued and quite a few arrested.

Agree, but saw a few positive signs in the 2nd Half yesterday that Celar could be part of an effective and mobile 4 man attack, lets hope.

I liked Varane from the off but did'nt see such a big step-up in performance coming from him yesterday so hoping Celar can similarly improve again on Tuesday night.

Based on yesterday, there is the beginning of a case to have Morgan playing central and just in front of Varane on the right and Field on the left,

With Varane & Field both having the athleticism, energy and desire to get up and down the pitch, to do both the defensive midfield role as well as supporting the wide players,

Very early I know to call Morgan but seems we could have a 3 man Midfield that can compete at this level without Colback,

Admittedly I was a fairly late convert to how important Colback is to our transition but we just have to commit more players to our attack (before we hang out Celar & Frey like Dykes) and Morgan gives us that passer of the ball higher up the pitch we've sorely missed since Eze left.

Celar got more involved yesterday and started putting his shoulder in and game-fully played on after that horror stamp on his shin,

Hopefully this is the start and he is getting accustomed to and less shy of the physicality of this division,

Movement, hold-up play and lay-offs were all decent yesterday as was good technique to step inside defenders and get that shot-off,

I think Celar's a downgrade on Dykes as a Championship target man but Dykes did'nt have that technique to beat a man on the edge of the box and get his shot off as Celar showed yesterday, which is why we bought Celar, so looks like a plan of sorts,

I still think if we can get a coherent attacking style of play (Varane & Morgan showing they could be the instigators of this) Celar could be a better option than Frey,

However if we continue to only have Celar as the only man in the box like the last half hour yesterday (bar the occasional foray from Dunne), Celar will justifiably struggle to be a 1 in 3 striker which is minimum needed from him given his style of play.

The elephant in the room for me is our lack of a coherent attacking style of play which is down to Cifuentes.

Our Lone Striker is so isolated most games he really needs a distress flare to remind the others where he is, usually in the next parish tasked with tying up two grizzly centre halves.

Or when we do get the ball then trying to keep up with Smyth or sitting back and admiring Chairs ability to play with himself.

In our last two home games I couldn't split Celar and Frey,

Frey's first touch in the 1st Half but was very poor in the air and disappeared in the 2nd Half,

Celar held the ball up well in the 1st Half, made some good layoffs with his chest to set up attacking moves, and likewise disappeared in the 2nd Half, possibly both due to how we lose our shape in the 2nd Half of games as we chase an equaliser,

Not really getting how right now one is being touted as the 2nd Alf Inge Haaland and the other the 2nd coming of Conor Washington.

Playing as a lone striker in the Championship might be the hardest job in football, particularly with a midfield without a forward passer and Chair taking his custo.ary 5 touches, I'm still hopeful Celar can adjust to this league and our unique supporting cast.

Genuine goal threat...marked by 3 players...lol

Before Willock returned last season I think he'd registered 2 goals in maybe 30 odd games,

Just can't understand why Real Madrid hav'nt come in for him, for his pin-point accuracy in finding the 1st defenders head with everyone of his corners....

My favourite ever post on this forum is 'Chair does'nt pass to our other players because he does'nt rate them'....absolutely brilliant bit of mind reading.

Dykes proved in helping us to stay in this League the last two seasons that he was good enough for this League,

Was Dykes good enough for a promotion chasing Championship club, arguably not,

Was he good enough for a club with our budget, resources & more importantly our infrastructure or lack of, absolutely he was, and this is a point I apologise for labouring for a long period of time,

Unfortunately we had a couple of good short-term spells and whether it be with the likes of Warburton or Dykes, we got carried away and got head of ourselves,

In a team with no leaders, a significant cohort of our fans, many on this forum, wanted Jimmy Dunne chased out of the club, you just could'nt make it up!

Still, if we get Colback back on the pitch, if Varane & Saito continue as they played last night, with Chair getting match-fit and if Marti can finally come up with a coherent style of attacking play, we should still make 16th and avoid a catastrophic relegation to League 1.

And we hav'nt had since we foolishly sacked Mark Warburton,

In a club full of sons of self-made men, ex players and now a very young trainee DoF,

I hoped Warburton would be our next DoF and bring some professionalism, passion and a work ethic to every department in our club,

This hope may have been misguided and I don't know if he had form like Warnock, Hughes & Co for skimming, but in an arse-kicking contest having one leg is better than having none.

Gazza,

I can help you here if you're not aware about what is happening at Birmingham,

Apparently they have spent £35m stockpiling talented players, spending more than every Championship club bar one apparently

Using that move as a yardstick to criticize Dykes is way off, similar to saying Jay Stansfield valued @ £ 10m is'nt good enough to play in the Championship, he is and only 1 or 2 Championship clubs could afford the fee and wages Birmingham offered.

In the right team (and unfortunately maybe in a different league / country), Celar could prove to be a better player than Dykes, I'm still more sceptical on Frey.

Similar to Chair's head-down technique when receiving the ball, have you noticed what Frey does when challenging for a header? which may explain why he wins so very few 50/50 headers.

Gazza, c'mon let be honest and add some context here,

A club in a lower division that has spent more in the close season (£35m?) than all bar one club in the championship picked up Dykes on the cheap off us because of his wages and we somehow thought Frey & Celar were suitable replacements,

Do you think Birmingham City would have been in for Frey or Celar?

With such logic and incisive thinking, I'm only surprised you hav'nt been tapped up by our infamous Recruitment Department.

Not piling on Chair as obviously not match fit but was the weak point and fault line in our pressing all night.
