Who starts tomorrow?
at 15:41 26 Sep 2014

I think someone mentioned in another thread Bony will know he let the boys down last week and will be chomping at the bit.

Take nothing away from Bafe as i wouldnt be disappointed if he got the nod but it should be Big Wilf for me.

Not sure if its already been posted but apparently we have had to fork out another £500k to Bolton for his services last season

Should Chris Coleman be relieved of the Welsh managers job?
at 12:26 10 Sep 2014

Coleman should never have been appointed in the first place but the FAW will stick with him until he completely fudges up qualification.

Kenny or Pulis would get Wales to the Euros but we wont get there under Cookie imo

It would be a crying shame because we have one of the greatest players in the planet in our team who deserves to play at a major finals.

Lets look forward to Chelsea match, starting 11?
at 10:38 10 Sep 2014

Could not agree more

Although I am not a huge fan of Amat playing DM, I suspect we will need someone sat in front of the back 4 who is willing to make a tackle.

Having said that maybe attack is the best form of defence and we should concentrate more on what problems we can cause them?

Big decisions for GM to make

Transfer Deadline Day — A Real Downer?!
at 13:38 3 Sep 2014

1 or 2 signings would have been nice especially after GM indicated the squad was short in a couple of areas.

Im concerned if we get an injury at full back, or both AR / NT suffer a poor run of form. As for the defensive midfield situation I cannot get my head around how this was not a priority but clearly its felt we have sufficient personnel to do the job?

Taking everything into account, any disappointment I may have felt was far outweighed when it was confirmed we had kept hold of Bony. This was THE priority during the summer window as far as Im concerned, added to the quality players we had already brought in it definitely was not a real downer.

When I hear Hodgson speak I struggle to think of a manager who could possibly motivate me less.

Kit Superstitions

Interesting to see which away games we actually wear the red & black kit.

I would have thought most away games we would be able to wear the white shirt with the exception of Spurs & probably QPR & WBA.

A Celebration Post. Wilfred is still here.
at 11:14 2 Sep 2014

Nothing unlucky, all part of the big plan

Wilf is so accurate he deliberately aimed to hit that defender against Burnley and just clear the bar on Saturday.

0 goals from 3.5 games makes the big boys think he was a 1 season wonder.

Hat trick at the Bridge guaranteed

Man U are starting to resemble the Spurs team from the early 90s with Sheringham, Klinsman, Anderton, Barmby & those romainian boys from the world cup. Basically it was a we will score more than you mentality and it didnt work.

All well and good having enviable firepower but if your defence is like a block of swiss cheese it will surely all end in tears.

Canas
at 10:20 2 Sep 2014

I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid about Canas leaving had we actually gone out and bought a player to compete with Leon for a position which is integral to our setup.

This is one area where the squad is now weaker than we finished last season as we had 2 DM players and now we have 1 with no idea when he will be fit.

For me Canas was ok, nothing special by any means. He had some good games in Europe and the PL before the new year but after that he was pretty poor. Whether that had anything to do with off the field matters or not I have no idea.

Shelvey question
at 15:37 28 Aug 2014

1. Its surely too late to sell and get a replacement of equal or better quality?
2. Would be suicide
3. Absolutely

Im a big fan of JJS, he can also play in the AMC role, capable of getting a few goals, and still young. Seems to enjoy playing his football here.

He had a bad game against Burnley but played his part against Man U and i thought he was very good on Tues night when he came on

Youre right the Spurs fans think Rose is a liability, and I seem to recall Villa fans saying similar about Delph.

The ignorance of the English national team towards our players is baffling.

Three wanted before the window
at 10:48 28 Aug 2014

I think we definitely need to sign a DM. It would have been one of the main priorities for me this summer. Leon is not getting any younger and even if he was fit he still wouldnt be able to play every game.

Carroll is not a DM & the brief glimpses Ive seen of Fulton tell me hes not ready for the demands of the PL yet.

Ki & JJS partnership results in both of them attempting to be a jack of all trades rather than one of them being the destroyer & one the creator. I cant see this combination being a long term success.

Looking at their fixtures they also have the Merseyside derby the following Saturday so I can definitely see them resting players for the cup game.

Carroll

I agree Carroll can play the simple passes well and he would give a lot of energy in there.

Problem I think is winning the ball back & breaking up play which I dont think any of Ki, JJS or TC can claim to be their strength.

Leon isnt a physical presence but he has a wonderful knack of breaking up play that very few players of his stature can replicate.

I believe Stamboulii to be a DM but admit to little knowledge on his attributes. Jack Cork would be my preference

JJS was poor on Saturday but he sparked things up a bit last night. A good shot early in the 2nd half & that first time cross he put in for Wilf at the end of the game was quality.

As much as I like Carroll I still think it has to be JJS & Ki starting as they will offer more of a physical presence.

Although ideally I would like to see a specialist DM with one of Ki / JJS.
