Ipswich Town 1 v 2 Southampton FA Premier League Saturday, 1st February 2025 Kick-off 15:00 |
WestSussexSaint added 17:34 - Feb 1 Bowlercow added 17:51 - Feb 1 Didn't see this one so only have Radio Solent to go by Couple of newbies seemed to do well but by the commentary Joe Aribo deserves MotM Scored the first goal, covered at cb when Capt Jack limped off (to be out for the rest of the season hopefully) And jut for a change we didn't get robbed by VAR silverspringsaint added 17:52 - Feb 1 About to excoriate Tall Paul for his inability to stay onside and his general lack of mobility - and then he sticks it in the net in classic No. 9 style! Woo hoo! Ipswich were desperately poor defensively (their keeper!) so it would have been annoying not to have won that. New boys did well, Fernandes too. Those large holes still tend to appear from time to time, as with the goal, but we were more convincing on defence today. A pity with the points we threw away early in the season, as we are certainly not worse than the other two promoted teams. One game at a time though! YosemiteSaint added 20:29 - Feb 1 Occasionally we were a bit fortunate not to concede—particularly on set pieces. But we rode our luck, kept our shape, and capitalized on a leaky keeper. Now if only Wolves hadn't won (and looked good doing so, although their derby opponents Villa seem slightly lost these days), we'd be slightly better positioned in our four-team relegation-candidate mini-league. It remains odds on that we and our fellow promoted sides are set for the drop. YosemiteSaint added 20:43 - Feb 1 Occasionally we were a bit fortunate not to concede—particularly on set pieces.
