Oldham Athletic 1 v 0 Salford City
Papa John's Trophy

Obviously none of us want to see Saints lose, but in many ways this draw was the worst possible result. It's 2 more points thrown away from a leading position, and it'll probably mean that the status quo is maintained. And Hughes can blame things out of his control (the ref)

We shouldn't get too steamed up blaming the ref - the first of his two clear errors was the penalty. It does seem that things go wrong after JWP comes on. A point was a fair result today - we needed to win and a lot of the usual problems meant we didn't. Let's blame the difficult conditions and move on to Craven Cottage. If MH is still with us he will definitely need to win that one.

What a pathetic defender is Cedric. He turned his back to the attacking shot and deflected the ball into his own net.
What a good goal by Austin and assisted by Redmond that was incorrectly disallowed.
This was a messy game with far too many passing errors.
Did we deserve all three points, well, probably not

Lynch seems to be flavour of the month. Today, I thought that what appeared to be lapses of concentration on his part played a role in both of their goals and several times he was turned too easily by their forwards.

Why did Hughes take off Armstrong that's when the game changed. JWP didn't clear the ball properly and gave it away, next minute it was in our net. We will never win a game if he keeps playing that useless article Prowse.

Massimo was my MOM by a mile,
great tackling, great shutting down, good passing, in the right place to score,
covered every part of the pitch - tremendous performance

Assume he was knackered

Great game to watch in front of a full Loftus Road.

I am also surprised that the ref hasn't got a higher score. He let the game flow whenever possible and was the best I have seen for a while.

..er, OK but if you were stood a few feet away from the person shooting more or less straight at your crown jewels at 90mph what would you have done? If he stood full frontal and got hit full blast in the rollicks the ball (and his?) would probably have still gone into the net and the rest isn't worth thinking about!
