Saints travel up to Old Trafford full of confidence after the win at Spurs, but surely they can't win at both Tottenham & Manchester United in the same season ! With this team nothing is certain either good or bad.

Barely is the euphoria over the great victory at Tottenham fading and we are on the road again, this time to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, the win at Spurs has not only given us confidence, but it has also given us leeway and with that comes the freedom to play without fear.

A few weeks ago we were staring at a three game run that saw us take on Man City at home and then Spurs & United away looming and looking over our shoulders a little, before the City game I suggested that even 2 points from this trio of games would be a success and yet here we are with 4 points in the bag from the first two.

This is where the freedom to play without fear comes in, with 11 points separating us from the relegation zone and indeed half a dozen or so clubs between us and 3rd from bottom Norwich we can see the home straight in the first target of the season and that is to not get involved in the relegation battle.

Looking up the table we have a bit to do before we challenge the top 7, so we can approach this game without any pressure.

Unlike Manchester United who after their draw at bottom of the table Burnley and the much documented issues surrounding the club are now coming to a crisis point, mind you I would be grateful of a crisis such as is happening at United, in their last 15 games they have lost only once, twice if you include the penalty shootout to Middlesbrough and they still sit 6th in the League only 1 point off of 4th.

So although Saints go up there in confidence, truth is United are hard to beat and it won't be easy.

I can't see Ralph Hasenhuttl making much change to the team that started against Spurs, perhaps Nathan Redmond & Tino Livramento will return to the squad, but there is no need to rush them back into action, at full back Kyle Walker Peters & Romain perraud were excellent in North london & out wide Moi Elyounoussi & Stuart Armstrong are looking good.

But as I said it's a squad game and if we can get the duo back in contention it can only help.

So it won't be easy on Saturday lunchtime, but if United think we are the same pushover as we were a year ago they might just get a shock.

lemmsy added 10:46 - Feb 11 What a fantastic performance midweek & one I feel has been coming since the 2-2 with Crystal Palace.we’ve been developing since then & I believe our only defeat was against wolves.A game that we genuinely deserved at least a point. So going into Saturday full of confidence & momentum, I still believe most would except a point right now.One concern is CR hasn’t scored in 5 & if ever a player goes up against saints with that kind of stat we know what usually happens

underweststand added 16:45 - Feb 11 After Wednesday's success over Spurs - you might say - it doesn't get better than this, BUT maybe it does. At least we have had some success at Old Trafford with two wins in the recent past thanks to single goals from Charlie Austin and Dusan Tadic. There is surely a determination in the squad to get some " revenge " for last year's fiasco. If we hold the form we've shown in recent games then we can ask - why not 3 points.
