My first ever Saints game was v Newcastle at the Dell in 1963. We won 2-0 with goals from O'Brien and Kirby, who gave the Newcastle centre half, John McGrath, later to become a Saints stalwart, a hard time. In those days, a lot of Sotonians had Geordie ancestry, from the dock workers, including my grandfather, who moved down here for work in the 1930s, so it was a special game.

I'll be at St Mary's tomorrow, hoping for another win.

I think Juric needs a point at least, 6 losses out of 6 will be a bad look. The players need to fight more, show more desire and stop trotting round the park like it’s light training. Sick of watching these trotters who play like they’ve had a lobotomy. A nil nil would be great as we have no Bling or Sulemana and the best finisher Archer isn’t his favourite.

As for memories, the Branfoot 2-1 with the magic le god brace the 2 x 4-0 in consecutive seasons with Koeman? and the 3-3 last game of the season when Alan Blayney won save of the season under Sturrock, that was an awesome game. I remember a game at the Dell when they had too many fans so some had to go in the Saints section of the Archers with 2 lines of stewards between them but this didn’t stop them from trying T throw punches at us over the top of the stewards.. it was quite comedic.
