Tyler Dibling has been linked with a move to most of the Top 7 clubs in the Premier, plus RB Leipzig in Germany, however the latest report is suggesting that the decision on where he will be playing for the rest of this season has already been made.

Newcastle United are said to be hot on the heels of Tyler Dibling and a a report from the North East is making a bold claim about chances of him being at St James Park.

The report says that journalist Graeme Bailey has said:

“Dibling is emerging as one of the most wanted young players in England”

“Jurgen Klopp and RB Leipzig looked to try and get a jump on the Premier League clubs interested by making a move this month, but Southampton made it clear they are not looking for a deal this month."

So that is the word amongst football insiders, Saints are making it clear that they won't entertain offers for Dibling in this January transfer window, however what happens in the summer and beyond is also far from certain either way.

Southampton have offered Dibling a new improved deal, my information is that this deal is not about preserving his transfer value, Dibling is contracted till the summer of 2027 and the club have a 1 year option beyond that.

That means that he is contracted to the club for at least another 3 years, we are under no pressure to sell and his value will hopefully only keep rising in both the short and medium term.

The new deal is about paying Tyler Dibling more for his services, his current wages are based on him being an up and coming 17 year old back in February 2023 and that figure is far lower than what is being offered now by Saints and indeed what he could get elsewhere.

I have been told that Tyler Dibling wants to sign this deal, his family want him to sign the deal, but the stumbling block are his agents who do not want him to sign it.

Why they are doing that I don't know, perhaps they feel that it will reduce their bargaining power going forward, but the reality is wages are not going to be the issue here, Dibling is under contract for at least another 2 years plus the 1 year option, this is modern football if a player wants to go, then they go, it is only the length of the contract left that essentially dictates the transfer fee that needs to be paid.

All indications are that Tyler Dibden wants to stay, at least for the short term, as we know from when he returned from Chelsea after a couple of weeks, deciding that the pathway to the first team was virtually non existent for a youngster at Stamford Bridge, playing first team football is what matters for him, he is chasing the glory, then the money will find him.

When he left for Chelsea he was accompanied by Jimmy Jay Morgan, who opted to stay with the Blues, Morgan is in the U21 side still, of the 12 Premier League 2 games he could have played, he has started 5 and come on as sub in 6 others, he is doing well, but he is nowhere near the first team at present, whereas Tyler is now a name that most football fans in England have heard of.

Perhaps Tyler is looking at a man whom he will know well from his time at St Mary's, Tino Livramento, in his first year at Newcastle after joining from Saints, he struggled to get game time in his first season, he started just 12 Premier League games plus 14 from the bench for just 1,306 minutes football out of a possible 3,420.

So good news for Southampton supporters, it doesn't look like Tyler Dibling will go anywhere just yet, whether he signs a new deal or not though, is not going to decide his more longer term future either way, if he signs it he will just get paid what he is worth until the inevitable move sometime in the future.

However for Tyler building the foundations of his career and reputation are at the forefront of his thinking, not money or sitting on the bench at a big club for most of the season, he wants to play football at the top level, but he knows he has to work hard before he gets there.

How good he MAY become is down to the club who are able to meet our asking price. If the recovery forecast is accurate, he will start getting game time by early March, and with some exciting runs, and a few more tap-ins (hopefully against some prominent clubs) - someone will cough up the cash, in the hope that he will rejuvenate yet another top club who have narrowly failed to win anything AGAIN, and whose new manager will see him as the answer to all their woes. It's obvious that we will have to sell him, as he won't want to wake up in August in a newly-relegated side and where his value will drop if he continues to stay with Saints. He is the " New Lavia ". Too good for Saints, but with the hope that some super-rich club are able to offer him a golden future - and help his agent to buy another smart car.

Along with the few saleable assets we have he will be gone as soon as their loyalty bonuses are paid in the summer. Having wasted millions in the last transfer window Sports Republic won’t have any choice.

Colburn added 16:49 - Jan 22 The fact that we brought in Diaz and Cornet shows how completely incompetent our board and management are. If we’d have brought in one good player for each average 2 we might have had a chance of staying up and keeping Dibling. Instead we will lose our best players again and be back to square one.. Our recruitment is National League and the decision making no better than league 2. Now we hire someone who can’t get a work permit. Why does this happen to us but not other clubs? Due diligence.. and we have none of it which is why we buy players with weak mentalities and little hunger.

JoeEgg added 17:38 - Jan 22 Spot on Colburn. I'm sure Tyler is a good lad and aware that there will be many disappointed fans when he leaves. Maybe if our management had achieved just half the progress that Bournemouth have done in putting together a Premier League standard squad, , he might have been persuaded to stay a little longer.. If he stays here he will be learning his trade with a few talented team mates but mostly an overlarge collection of Championship hopefuls. Anyway we have so many forwards Sports republic will probably trade for another couple of full backs!!!
