Injured Southampton Players Return To The Squad Wednesday, 19th Jul 2023 08:58 Saints fans were asking about the absence of several members of the squad when the team took on Goztepe at the weekend, now they are back, find out why they were missing here. Saints were missing defenders Juan Larios and Romain Perraud plus midfielders Stuart Armstrong and Samuel Edozie out in Turkey, but when the squad resumed training in the UK on Tuesday all four were back on the pitch at Staplewood. Local media outlet Hampshire Live has revealed why they were missing the trip to Goztepe. Stuart Armstrong had been a late returner to the squad after being involved with Scotland , playing for them as late as 17th June, to compound that he picked up a minor knock when he returned to the club for pre season. Juan Larios & Romain Perraud were more long term injuries, Larios was just starting to break into the side back in the Autumn when he suffered a muscle injury against Newcastle in the penultimate game before the World Cup break, that kept him out until March, but suffered another injury that has kept him out until now. Romain Perraud hurt an ankle in the defeat against Bournemouth at St Mary's in April which would be his last appearance of the season. Sam Edozie had been in the squad and the only one of the quartet who has trained under Russell Martin, he picked up a minor knock in training ahead of the Benfica friendly last week and missed the trip to Turkey as a precaution. As they have just returned to the squad it is unlikely they will feature in the game at Reading on Saturday.
