The tickets for Saints 5th round game against Grimsby Town are now on sale to season ticket holders, however there seems to be an issue on the club website that is not allowing some supporters to buy their seat.

Saints have announced the details for the FA Cup tie against Grimsby Town to be played on Wednesday 1st March 2023 with an early kick off time of 7.15pm.

With a good chance of reaching the quarter finals of the competition there is going to be a reasonable demand for this game, despite the poor form in the Premier League and with Grimsby Town taking the entire Northam End so potentially bringing around 6,000 supporters, the largest away allocation ever seen at St Mary's it will be approaching a sell out.

There are those that will question the wisdom of giving the Mariners the whole Northam End, usually the FA cup allocation is around 4,500 with a couple of blocks going to Saints fans, but I think fair play to the club, the game is unlikely to sell out given the current apathy in the fan base and poor crowds in previous cup ties played this season, so why not let Grimsby fans enjoy what is a rare big game for them, I suspect I will be in a minority here.

The good news is the for season ticket holders the price is only £15 for adults with Season Ticket Holders’s aged under 18 paying just £5. You have until 2pm on Friday 10th February to secure your seat, ahead of tickets going on sale to Members on Friday afternoon. Season Ticket holders can buy additional tickets from 9.30am on Saturday and general sale is from 9.30am Monday.

The bad news is that the ticket system on the club's website seems to be going skewiff once again and I have had reports of season ticket holders trying to buy their ticket online but finding themself looked out of buying their own seat.

The seat itself is locked out of being able to be purchased, although you can buy alternative seats.

Having looked as the problem, it would seem that the system has done what it is supposed to do in reverse, instead of making it only season ticket holders seats for sale it has allowed somehow made those the only ones that can't be bought.

Hopefully the club will fix this glitch pretty quickly and given the timescale between announcing they were on sale and putting them on sale was only a matter of hours , not a lot of people will have noticed yet, it is unclear if it is all season ticket holder affected or just certain areas.

Saturday 11th February 9:30am - Season Ticket Holder additional
Monday 13th February 9:30am - General Sale

Under 18/Under 11: £7.50

Adults/Over 65/18-25: £20

TimSaint added 13:31 - Feb 9 Purchased mine at 13.25 without any issues Just a note for those in the family section and the Itchen/Chapel corner. It looks like as in previous rounds, these sections will not be open for the Cup game, so you will have to purchase tickets in other parts of the ground. You can still buy during the ST window, but you won't be able to buy your own seat.

saintmark1976 added 13:33 - Feb 9 I’m increasingly becoming of the opinion that the owners and management of Southampton Football Club Ltd regard us fans purely as nothing more than a nuisance nowadays. For pity sake, the club have had weeks of notice to get their website in order for this upcoming cup game, it being totally irrelevant whether it was Luton or Grimsby who were the opponents. As I understand it the match is to be televised for free on I T V 4, yet the club make it difficult for their own season ticket holders to purchase their seat! In addition, they continue to use the same overpriced tiered system which failed to achieve anywhere near ground capacity in the last round against Blackpool, a game not on TV, played on a Saturday at 15.00 not a Wednesday at 19.15. At a time when we are bottom of the league with fan’s moral sunk to depths not seen since the Branfoot days, why couldn’t the club give us something back for once ? Any seat in the stadium for £10 and kids for free together with a website that actually works wouldn’t have been too much to ask would it ?

Colburn added 16:51 - Feb 9 Clown show once again.. I am yet to believe that the people running the club have any clue about the business they are in or customer service. The morale is low because we went into a tight season without a goalscorer after being told on many occasions that the new owners would put us in a stronger position than before in respect of transfers, not having to sell first, yet it took them 18 months to rectify the issue and did the overdue business at the end of the window, losing our on more potential points and a cup final.. That's why my spirit has gone, the owners lack of nous which will cost us our PL status, end of story. But I'm sure Jones and Hasenhuttl will get the blame from most fans.

SaintNick added 20:17 - Feb 9 In fairness the system is stuffed it’s a big job to put in a new system and migrate all the details etc they usually do this sort of thing in the summer as there are tickets being sold literally every day during the season

SouthSeaSaint added 20:28 - Feb 9 In some respects I am glad I am not the only one unable to buy my season ticket and am unable to visit the stadium or phone in tomorrow before the ridiculously short timeframe. Probably wont bother going now!!

Whose fault is that then, because it’s certainly not the responsibility of the long suffering paying fans is it? No, it’s the fault of the club and it’s inefficient management and the people they employ to make the ticketing website function. Colburn is 100% correct in describing it as yet another Clown Show situation, along with taking orders for shirts which were faulty, installing a turnstile system that didn’t work properly and late delivery of season tickets.

mattthelegend added 08:51 - Feb 10 Only £15.00 should be £10.00 maximum for season ticket holders. The club are so out of touch and yet more evidence of fans being ripped off. Blackpool did t sell out, so what’s changed since that game to justify the fee????? Despair with this club at times.
