What the hell is going on Swansea City ? Monday, 16th Jan 2023 19:24 by Keith Haynes Glasgow Rangers bid last week for Morgan Whittaker has been described as incredibly low and not warranting consideration according to a source we speak to close to Swansea City. And even closer to matters of this nature at the club. Had the swans accepted the bid they wouldn’t have even recuperated anything close to the initial £725,000 fee paid for Morgan back in 2021. And even now the add ons within that deal still remains including a sell on fee. Russell Martin did indicate a knock back by the club last week with many believing the bidder coming from the championship. If current speculation is to be believed the club is Glasgow Rangers but in any event no matter the interest at the financial levels being offered for Morgan’s services it could be anyone. With movement now stalling on the transfer of Chiedozie Ogbene from Rotherham and disclosures this morning on the continued ambivalence of the current swans ownership to timely transfer awareness news isn’t good on the player movement front. It doesn’t come as a surprise to many the majority ownership push for the highest transfer fees and will always use every trick in the book to get players in as cheaply as possible. That’s to be congratulated but not to the detriment of the clubs goodwill elsewhere or loss of signings which is now the accusation from numerous sources. So what is going on ? It could actually be nothing … It’s a mystery to some Swansea City followers why Morgan would be on offer this transfer window. Being a success at Plymouth with nine goals this season plus numerous assists he was called back this month with Russell Martin stating it wasn’t for selling purposes. That soon changed and now we are told Morgan can’t play because of interest from other clubs. Now either Russell Martin has had the rug pulled from beneath him or he and the club knew all along of this ‘strategy’ to move the player on this month. We will leave that down to you, but will most certainly be utilising our numerous contacts to find out when interest and offer(s) were first lodged for Morgan and hope for all concerned transparency remains just that. Because we are at a cross roads this evening with the ownership and the openness of the club itself, and by that we mean all those who speak and make decisions on behalf of Swansea City FC. We most certainly smell a rat here, and with a string of people also not happy with the current situation, fear not we won’t be holding back if indeed our instincts unveil the remotest of an issue. Draw from that what you will, we don’t really care. We’ve been here before over many years and are more than happy to be there again. Up front, with names and as open as ever. Here’s hoping the club pull themselves together over the next forty eight hours and be the professional entity we all want them to be. But no matter what happens this whole Morgan Whittaker recall and the timings need qualifying. And they will be. We now throw this open to you.
