Saints social media is rife with rumours that Ralph Hasenhuttl is about to become the next Premier League manager to be sacked, however no one can quite pinpoint where these rumours are coming from.

As I always point out when odds for a manager to be sacked change dramatically, this is a fun betting market and it has the opportunity for someone with insider information to take the bookies for a few bob if they can get money on quick on a change of manager.

Therefore odds in this market shorted at the drop of a hat for even the least significant movement in betting patterns.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's odds to be the next manager to be sacked shortened drastically today and have dropped to as low as 7/4 with some bookmakers.

However he is still not the favourite to be sacked, that remains Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

The rumour mill is saying that Ralph will be sacked at some point this afternoon and that his replacement is already in lined up.

Some are saying that he is already at the club and that Ruben Selles who joined back in June as Ralph's lead coach was appointed with the intention that he would succeed the Austrian.

Certainly there have already been changes in the coaching set up since the revamp in the summer that saw Selles arrive, Alex Clapham came and went after barely two months as the coach responsible for set pieces.

The rumours back then were that Clapham had clashed with Selles who had not let him get on with the job and had interfered with Clapham's work on the training field, certainly what we do know is that Clapham left under a cloud.

So if the rumour mill is correct then Ralph Hasenhuttl, wont be manager of Saints by the end of today, we will soon find out if this is just a rumour flying around due to a few people putting on money on him being sacked, or whether this has real substance.

AmericanSaint added 14:42 - Sep 21 While the timing during the international break is one that this type of activity happens, I find it strange as the players brought in where supposedly the ones RH wanted. I would be shocked but not surprised as the football world is very quick to drop the axe.

For all those who want him sacked , maybe check out his record on Wikipedia against the new Chelsea managers whilst at Brighton for some context on how well he has done under massive constraint. Not sure if anyone else feels the same but it hards to like and indeed care about the premier League anymore. Lost its soul , shame the so called super League didn't take those clubs away

The board must be concerned, as are many of us, as to why we put in so many inconsistent performances.....many of which have been dreadful. A club like Southampton relies on beating the teams around us. Again.....the issue is...do we trust Ralph to take charge against Everton.....possibly now a season defining fixture already.

underweststand added 16:58 - Sep 21 I've always suspected that betting firms will " create " odds on almost any possibility. e.g Snow in London on Christmas Day, UFO landing in Hyde Park, etc. There's always some punter willing to try and beat the odds on a long shot. admittedly, things haven't gone to plan so far, but having supported RH this far, I don't see the Board ditching him quite now - not yet at least, unless Pochettino is still unemployed ..now there's a thought.

Ralph bought these players in, neglected to get a decent striker. If he, for one minute expected no consistency, then he deserves the sack even more. We play like a Sunday league side, score like an 11yr old side and have a manager that's couldn't even manage both of the formentioned. Look at his record... how many 9nils, how many drubbing, what's his win %?

ItchenNorth added 18:01 - Sep 21 Bookies are not stupid. There's an international break. They'd be daft not to shorten odds at a time clubs might consider changing manager. They don't want to get caught with their pants down. That's how they make money and punters don't. Good business model!

felly1 added 21:34 - Sep 21 Can't see it happening , we've got 7 points from 7 games so that's a moderate if unspectacular return so far this season. I think the owners are more likely to make a decision at the beginning of the world cup break . If we're in the bottom three or very close to it then Ralph has to go to protect their investment. Mid table or above great. Below mid table but comfortably clear of trouble they'll persevere . We all can point out the ups and downs of his time here depending on whether you're a "Make RHexit Happen" ( nicked from someone else) or a Ralmainer. It has to be said though that the disastrous run of games that we finished on last season certainly turned a lot of fans against him.

SanMarco added 09:39 - Sep 22 This 'next to be sacked' thing is a 20 horse race and once you eliminate the clubs who definitely aren't going to change you have a field of managers of clubs who haven't started well i.e. Rodgers, Moyes, Lampard, Cooper, Gerrard and Ralph. Lampard and Gerrard had good results recently, Forest won't sack Cooper (but then Burnley wouldn't sack Dyche) so that leaves Rodgers as not worth betting on as favourite with Moyes and Ralph as next best. As I can't believe that many people bet on these sort of things it doesn't take much, after a woeful showing vs Villa, to make Ralph the man. For what its worth my view is he will go if we are booed off after the Everton game.
