Chelsea Fans Demand The Recall Of Armando Broja ! But Saints Fans Need Not Worry. Thursday, 21st Oct 2021 13:40 Armando Broja has made a good start to hic career at Southampton and is a big hit with the fans, but after injuries to both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, Chelsea supporters are demanding that Thomas Tuchel recall the loan striker to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea fans have taken to social media after it was revealed that both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will be missing for a period after sustaining injuries in the Blues win over Malmo in the Champions League. Lukaku picked up an ankle injury, while Werner pulled up clutching his hamstring later in the game. That leaves Chelsea short up front and some of their supporters have urged Tuchel to get on the phone to Saints and recall him from his season long loan. That is something that would not go down well with Southampton fans who have taken to Broja's style of play capped by a debut Premier League goal against Leeds United on Saturday. But they can breathe a sigh of relief after the Premier League loan rules became clear. Premier League outfield players are only able to move clubs during transfer windows, even if being recalled back to a parent club from a spell on loan, with only goalkeepers allowed to swap clubs on an emergency basis. But with Broja signed up at St Mary's for a season although Chelsea can request that Broja be returned to them in January, Saints are within their rights to refuse and keep the player for the entire length of his loan spell, that is also the case in the reverse situation, if Saints wanted to return him in January Chelsea would have to agree. So Broja is going nowhere till January and it is hoped that by then Chelsea's striker crisis will be over and he will drop back down the pecking order again and not be needed, thus averting any chance of a tug of war between the two clubs.
