Stuart Armstrong Latest To Sign New Deal Saturday, 2nd Jan 2021 09:06 Saints have continued their strategy of securing key player to new contracts by agreeing a new deal with Scottish International Stuart Armstrong, just a couple more players to go now and the process will be completed. Stuart Armstrong has signed a new contract that ties him to the club until the summer of 2024. The Scot who is in his third season at the club will turn 29 in March and the 3 1/2 year deal could possibly see him end his career with Saints if he completes it. So far Armstrong has started 47 Premier League games plus another 25 as sub scoring 10 goals in the process and although initially he struggled to adapt to the step up from Scottish football to the Premier League, after the arrival of Ralph Hasenhuttl he started to flourish. He is the latest in a string of first-team players to sign new deals in recent months, following on from the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Jan Bednarek, Shane Long, Will Smallbone, Jake Vokins and Nathan Tella, as well as Saints manager Hasenhüttl himself. “He has become more comfortable and confident playing in the number ten position, and it has been pleasing to see the development he has made as a result of the work he has done with us on this. I think he is someone who can continue to improve and make a very positive contribution for us here in the future, so it is good for the club and for him also to sign this deal.” Stuart Armstrong said: "I'm very happy. It's a great group, we're doing well, it's very positive, and to extend my time here and be part of the club going into the future is something I'm very happy about. "It's a great club to be a part of and it's a club that has a feel of positivity and heading in the right direction.” Good news for Saints supporters, but there are still a couple more new contracts to be signed, the one that everyone wants to see is Danny Ings put pen to paper on an extended deal as well as Ryan Bertrand Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
