| News Comment | Is It Time To Use Jay Rodriguez Up Front ? at 12:58:08
This reminds me of the live political debate last election...i also agree with nick. Three broader comments. Firstly, interesting to read he article in DE about RL and not getting much sleep due to his newborn kid. I see more to come as he gets his 8 hours sleep back. Secondly I think DO still needs some more time to adjust. Finally, statistics based on low numbers can be misleading and would err caution - confidence intervals help to see where a statistical difference is significant or not. I'd be interested to review these same stats that have been presented when there is more data available. Interesting and thought provoking article. |

Nick I must admit I so often feel torn when reading your analysis. On the one hand I think you write very well, have great analytical ability and clearly dedicate a lot of time to share insight for fans like myself. However, as often noted in comments, you have a very negative bias. It's not that I'm an eternal optimist, nor do I want to only ever talk about the positives, but I think that it is important to celebrate positives in a balanced way and I feel you fail to do that. If we were forth from bottom I could imagine you pointing out the negative of this. In this article you mention that we are forth which you qualify with the inevitable BUT. You fail to celebrate the never give up attitude of scoring a late goal, whereas had we conceded late goals in 2 games on the trot I feel confident you'd highlight the negatives. You don't, as the previous comment points out, pick up on the ample chances we had and referee decisions which in another game would have yielded more goals. Dicanio conceded we deserved to win, MOTD said we deserved to win and reinforced their belief we are a top 10 side. Yes there's room for improvement, but I find it sad you are always plagued by such negativity |
| News Comment | Adkins Is Right To Continue Attacking Style at 13:34:54
Interesting article and I think few would disagree generally with the principles about our defence. I do think you overstate your argument however and seem to underestimate the teams we have played against. Yes we shold have beaten Wigan, no doubt about that. But Everton away in their current form, Man U, Man C, and Arsenal should all expect to be loses. Your statement that 'we got battered at Man City so the writing was on the wall then' seems OTT. We should have beaten A Villa and did convincingly which was a relief. In my opinion you can't talk about a team's performance without putting it in the context of the opponents otherwise it makes your argument seem overly biased. |

Great review. It's interesting the De Ridder didn't play - with all the hype about Lambert leaving maybe there's a more innocent replacement of De Ridder with Mayuka? I'm suprised to hear your comment on Luke Shaw being too under-developed for the cup given he scored a cracker by the sounds of things. Was this the only highlight of his performance? Thanks for giving such comprehensive reviews for those unable to be at the game. It's really appreciated |
| News Comment | Lambert Looks To End Drought at 13:38:55
Good article. I agree he's contribution is still crucial but it's interesting to note the 'drought' (which is incredible given that he's still the league's top goalscorer!). How did you manage to find the stats on when he last had a run of 6 games without scoring?? |
