I like the way the team is set up. He’s made a surprisingly good start. And because things have gone well that temper and those tantrums that he’s prone to haven’t really surfaced. He’s matured too but it’s very early days and a lot can and will change. I hope he can keep it going but it wouldn’t surprise me if things take a turn for the worse either…

Wales 4 Iceland 1 : Cullen culls Iceland and Wales win the group
at 16:29 20 Nov 2024

I was at the game last night, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and after a dodgy opening ten minutes Wales played very well at times. Joe Rodon was the stand out player although Wilson and Johnson showed their class too. It was an entertaining game that could have ended 5-3.

As for Cullen, it wasn’t his best game but two goals where he was in the right place at the right time is a good return. He’s definitely got something about him and seemed to enjoy his role. Luke likes him and knows that he’s not an out an out number 9 playing on his own up front. We are short in that department so his hand has been forced to a degree.

That’s a good assessment of the situation

He constantly repeats the same boring old stuff whilst knowing that it’s inaccurate in the hope that it will eventually convince (some) people. Winston also does this.

Tyler Morse looks set to take on a more prominent role

They aren’t numbered or at least shouldn’t be.

He’s doing a difficult job well and has helped to stabilise the club through some choppy waters. We are holding our own in the Championship at the moment and with one or two additions in January we might even push on towards a top ten finish.

Certainly a harsh decision but we need to understand the hand ball rule as it now applies

Previously there had to be a deliberate attempt to handle. That is not the case now. A hand in an “ unnatural position “ that comes into contact with the ball can lead to a penalty kick rightly or wrongly. Especially if the referee had viewed that it’s prevented the attacking team from a goal scoring opportunity.

I’m a big Grimes fan as most Swans fans are but I’m sorry to say this wasn’t his finest moment. It was very harsh but he gave the referee a decision to make unfortunately.

The rule needs reviewing. It’s a bit of a nonsense really and there’s far too much inconsistency and ambiguity around it.

Swansea City : A new investor to add to the picture ?
at 18:04 8 Nov 2024

This is encouraging news of course but unless the new ownership show improved ambition, passion, enthusiasm, presence and real focus and a determination with money to attract new players and offer improved contracts to those who warrant them to move the club forward then nothing really will change. Heaven forbid it could get worse but the signs are encouraging. Fingers crossed.

Laughable indeed.

And the clueless ones have the most to say. As in life in general I suppose.

“ No defenders have ever looked good under Russy “😂

Apart from Ryan Manning, Kyle Naughton, Nathan Wood, Jake Bidwell, Harry Darling, Ben Cabango and even Latibeaudiere certainly looked good at times too. Constantly saying the same boring things over and over again doesn’t make them any more accurate or factual.

That’s it. Blame the manager when we lose and then find excuses to criticise him when we win. Keep an open mind instead of stubbornly sticking to an agenda. That way you can enjoy the pleasure of our wins too

Once again both outstanding.

Hopefully we can negotiate and find some common ground with them. Two players who have their best years ahead of them they are starting to look like Premier league players…

A very good win against a big powerful athletic Watford side who were 5th for a reason.

First half football of a high quality. Less impressive second half and we did sit back a bit too much in the last 5/10 minutes which invited a bit of pressure. It’s that stick of twist situation really as Brentford found last night when they had all eleven players in deep positions going into the last five minutes and paid the penalty.

Otherwise superb stuff. Vipotnik apart that is who was anonymous throughout. He rarely looks a bit lost almost in movement and speed of thought.

The Championship Table
at 11:08 4 Nov 2024

Looking at the current table we are in 12th position. That’s a very good return when we consider where our club is and how it’s currently being run.

Manager Luke Williams his staff and players are on balance doing a good job. Defensively we look as solid as we have for a long time. The other team cannot score without the ball. 😃

Wr appreciate the constraints and limitations we have up front but so far we are doing well. I’ll stick with my pre season prediction of 13-16th which will be a respectable decent return.

Leeds Sunderland and Burnley look good so far with Sheff Utd in with a chance.

Very pleased and surprised with the high quality of that performance. For 88 minutes that was excellent against a side with a formidable record at that ground.

It’s offered some hope going forward now. Especially as the pressure was on, that was good to watch. 👏🏻

Swans players feel disrespected by their contract offers *Latest
at 17:06 30 Oct 2024

The gradually reducing wage bill means one thing. A weakening of the playing resources and less quality in the squad. That’s stating the obvious but that will lead to relegation sooner rather than later unless we can either considerably improve our scouting network and success rate or suddenly we start to produce local talent that’s good enough to go into the first team squad.

We do need new owners with ambition and genuine interest in the club. You do feel for the manager and his staff. These are turbulent times and that’s not an exaggeration.

Cullen signs
at 23:01 29 Oct 2024

He’s definitely got something about him. He looked the part when we were a Premier League club when playing for our Under 23s and his scoring record was good. I seem to recall he scored all four in our 4-0 win at Everton.

He does need to be playing alongside someone ideally but modern football formations rarely will see two out and out strikers starting together.

The next two or three seasons are crucial for him as he still has time on his side to improve with more experience. He started the season well with two in our first four or five games but it’s a difficult time for the Club and there’s a lot of pressure on him at present. Our worst ever record is six games without scoring and he is carrying that burden of responsibility.

He’s still forced his way into the Wales set up so well done to him and best of luck.

Yes of course that one season with Laudrup was very special with Michu De Guzman Rangel Dyer Routledge Williams et al but we were a mid table team. In 1981/2 we were closer to winning the league than we realised at the time. Top in March.

Yes I would because if we had world class players they’d be getting paid upwards of £10m a year and that’s obscene

On 1981/82 our club topped the First division at a time when players were earning less than £1000 a week. Still good money as £25,000 would buy you a nice house.

They were different times of course and well before Sky Sports became involved. Those were the very best days to follow Swansea City.
