If that is the case then Jim Smith has fallen in my estimation. I was so looking forward to Houghton playing for us having watched him tear it up for Fulham on Match Of the Day the previous two seasons.

Blink and you will miss the first half highlights.

Marti will make plenty of substitutions as usual. After the first 15 minutes of the second half it would be fun to bring on Frey and Lloyd for Kolli and Chair and let them bash the defenders around.

Houghton turned down a new contract at Fulham, trained with us pre season but then signed for Oxford.

I have never found out why. Maybe it had something to do with Jim Smith leaving Oxford and coming to us or simply that Oxford offered him more money, Robert Maxwell owned Oxford at the time.

One of the first names that springs to mind on the wish he had side.

Not a lot of quality on show so far. We are the better team though and this feels like yet another game that’s there for the taking.

I am happy with Saito's contribution so far this season but I have noticed in the past four games he has gone all Andersen on us and suffered a lack of form and therefore contribution during matches.

Unlike our Lucas so far this season I hope that Koki's form returns sooner rather than later.

An excellent balanced summary Clive. I think along the same lines as you in that we had to rest key players on Saturday. Speaking of lines this was the key one in your report and I am sure that it is firmly planted in the back of Marti's mind

It is often said that the words 'World Class' and 'Legend' are over used in football when describing a very talented footballer.

Rod Stewart is a world class legend in music. I am not a great fan but liked his time with The Faces and his early solo albums especially Atlantic Crossing.

He jumped on the bandwagon and recorded his versions of The Great American Song Book with great success. Can't get my head around that one, if you really want to listen to these songs then you don't look past Ella and Frank.

If Marti really wanted to have a proper go today then he would have made substitutions a lot earlier.

First substitution was not until the 70th minute, all like for like, all about player game time management and likely pre planned with the Performance Department.

There will an inquest and we have a week to sort ourselves out. Sounds like Marti will have to take Ashby out of the firing line.
