Well said, mate.

Here’s to hoping a bigger club doesn’t try to sign Clive in the transfer window

In Keeganomics, another winger is always welcome - Preview

I don’t necessarily mind the fact that Clarke is a winger, where we have more than enough depth... although this is certainly an issue

My bigger issue is- what’s the point?

We’re not going up. We’re not going down. Clarke is a really good player- but what is he going to do for us? Help us get to 11th rather than 13th?

We’re consistently told that our financial resources are scarce. There’s no way spurs are sending him to us for free. Wouldn’t we be better off applying those funds to getting a player who will help us next season?

Add the cost and the minutes taken away from the likes of chair, shodipo, BOS, etc, and it’s clearly a pretty bad signing

What have we got ourselves into here? Preview

Clive, you’ve hit the nail on the head with our defense.

So long as we play out the back, we’re going to invariably lose the ball in dangerous areas. And with slow centrebacks, and fullbacks pushes forward, we’re going to be particularly vulnerable to counterattack goals. Swansea’s first and third goals and Pompeys second goal come to mind.

Ilias Chair is a no brainer to play in the 10 role- plus, he brings the added versatility of making forward runs/playing as a second striker (as he did so effectively against Bristol City) and dropping deep into midfield to build up play.

QPR hold their nerve to settle cup thriller - Report
at 11:16:30

Great game for the formation nerds, indeed. I thought QPR's best shape yesterday was the 4-4-2 we played for the first 15 minutes of the second half, though maybe not with those players (ie, Kane played as a right-sided midfielder and Ball as the rb). I wasn't crazy about the 3-5-2 in the first half, as it left us a bit open. If Bristol got past Scowen or he lost the ball, Bristol was free to run at the centrebacks. Thought Warburton's adjustments were great; my only criticism would be I would have preferred he subbed off Ball, and had Kane as our right back when chasing the game. But perhaps Kane had a fitness issue as you suggest.

A word on Chair and his versatility. Against MK Dons in the cup a few years ago, he played a deep midfielder role (a la Luca Modric)- buzzing around the ball, finding little pockets and playing one short pass after the other. Last year and at Stevenage, he occupied a 10/inverted left winger role.

Yesterday, he played much of the match as a striker, and was a damn good one at that. At the end of the first half, Kane broke down the flank and played a cross- all 5'2 of Chair managed to get between Bristol's centrebacks and be the first to the cross. At the beginning of the second half, he made a nearpost run and missed a chance from close range. Even the run he made for his goal was well taken (albeit fairly simple). This kid made proper striker runs, and he's freaking 5'2 and not a striker.

What I love most about Chair is his sheer positivity. Everything is forward. To me, he deserves an assist for the first goal for the incisive pass he played to Smith to set up the goal. All QPR fans should be excited for the link up between him and Eze

I thought this was written by Clive, which is as good a compliment as you can get. Excellent report, Jordan. Though to be fair to the sun-bedding Danny Bath, I believe he’s half-Indian
