For 80 minutes we were to a man excellent, we outfought and outbattled Scunthorpe, and they struggled to cope with it. This was not a performance of a team punching above their weight, and not an 'upped their game' performance, rather more indicative of the type of football this team is playing nowadays, and showing we belong near the top of this league, and are one of the better teams, this is how Dale play now. You won't out battle this team, we will give as good as we get, the team spirit is amazing, everyone works for each other, and covers for each other, they would run through a brick wall for Hill. Massive credit has to go to Hill, the legacy he is leaving at this club is amazing, he has changed the mentality of the whole club, and is showing that we belong here at the top ends of the league, expectations should be higher, and a playoff spot should definitely be a target, this team is top quality, and what Hill has built is nothing short of amazing, in and out of the dressing room. UTD!! |

Appears to be half the player he was a year or so ago. He looked lost today, not sure whether he should push forward or be the midfield enforcer, he appeared to confuse the front three with where he should be. I love Hendo, but on current form, is there a place for him. |

That's what this game feels like, the team looked lethargic when shaking hands before the match, and it hasn't improved on the pitch. The game needs a serious rocket up its arse, bring on Donal and Davies. [Post edited 20 Aug 2016 15:58]

What an absolute dire second half performance, the whole half felt like an end of season performance. Games like this, against teams fighting for their lives, are won and lost on if you can match the oppositions desire and determination, and Dale didn't do that. Donny came out in the second half and wanted to win the game, we couldn't cope with that, they upped their determination and desire, were quicker to the ball and just wanted it more. We played, and looked like a team with nothing to play for.
Edit: get in Canavan!! Any chance to fcuk up fergie in fergie time is always good! |

Not from the boys in blue, they were all magnificent. From the first minute there was absolutely no desire or passion from the bury players, it struggled to feel like a local derby due to the fact there was only one team trying to play. I'd be concerned if I were a bury fan, there was more desire shown by their two 'fans' who got ejected, than the 11 overpaid mercenaries donning the bury tops.
That's enough about them though, you could sense we wanted it more than them. The first half in particular, we managed the game beautifully, had Grant Holt been fit it could have been 5/6. The easiest derby in a while.
Really impressed with NML and McDermott, the former had his best game in a long time, if we can get these two 100% fit they will be great assets, they were always giving the defence a hard time, keeping them on their toes. The big difference appears to be Canavan, he's just got this assured look about how he plays, no nonsense player, one who looks like a proper leader, something we haven't had since Dawson, if he continues this form he is a must to sign in the summer.

I don't know what else to say after that 'performance'. The first 6 minutes were brilliant, closing down Crewe and all over them, and then they seemed to stop playing which gave Crewe a perfect chance to get back in to the game. You can not drop the intensity as much as we did after getting two early goals, they were there for the taking and we just decided to stop playing, and in fact, they will probably be a little disappointed not to win, could have easily had 3/4.
There doesn't look to be any visible shape to this team, or any noticible idea to the system being played, McNulty is NOT a full back, how many games before Hill realises this, he's in danger of destroying the lads confidence. Eastham and Lancy should be the preferred choice with what we have at the moment, they appear to have a good partnership, verbally organising each other throughout the game.
What has happened to the midfield, there are no leaders in the middle of the park, no passion and no natural width, it's like there's an invisible shield just past the half way line, that we seem afraid to cross. It is no coincidence tht both goals came from quality play out wide, we need some natural width in our play. I am running out of patience for the situation with Alessandra, we need to be playing him or let him go out on loan, he deserves to be playing every week for someone.
Something needs to change, personal or tactical, because there doesn't look to be any idea or direction in the team atm, and you can easily be dragged in to a relegation battle, it was clear that confidence was low once Crewe got back in to it, and for a team that can beat teams like Wallsall and Burton, it is no excuse.
