Only have to see Perkins two more times!!
at 13:06 19 Apr 2015

Yes LGT but again it was his misplaced pass that gave them possession to set up the goal. A persistent thread throughout the season.

Shame the PA man never played "Glad all Over" when the ball went into Fulham's net - it was one of the best we've seen this season!

Mark Waddington

From the short cameo appearances we've seen him he has the advantage over the other products from the youth team because of his physical attributes alone. The others, despite some fleeting glimpses of a future, will be mullered in League 1 because they have no physical presence. They are worth keeping for another season to develop further, but by no means are they ready for inclusion in the first team squad on a regular basis. It would ruin their potential. Of the ones we have seen recently Barkhuizen seems to have a bit more about him and could improve with an extended run, but if we're pinning our hopes on a youth policy we will be found sadly lacking.

Only one more now! He couldn't even make it off the pitch when he was subbed without causing me angst! He is favourite for the award for "Most assists to the opposition" this season.

Charles Dunne Good, bad or indifferent ?
at 15:18 5 Apr 2015

Ben Burgess summarised him on Radio Lancs yesterday and it fit perfectly my opinion of Dunne. His defending is naive, to say the least, and he has poor awareness of the player he is marking. Too often he is ball watching and his man gets a free run in behind him. Although his forward play is better and he is strong with a little pace, he needs to learn when he can go forward- ie when the team are on the front foot not when an excursion forward will expose the defence. He is only young but he has a lot to learn. Can he learn it at Blackpool? I don't know, the coaching of basics seems lacking at the moment.

Cubero??? Mr Clark

Until your comment I was sure that a Leeds player played the through ball. I think Cubero had lost it, but will now have to wait for the TV replay.

Cubero??? Mr Clark
at 20:07 21 Mar 2015

The goalscorer was 5 yards offside when the ball was played through to him. One of our defenders (O'Dea or Hall) jumped to head it clear but it only grazed the top of his head. The assistant referee was right in line so should have flagged immediately the forward made a move toward the ball At least that is my understanding of becoming active in the move.

just got back (no, not really)
at 12:54 1 Feb 2015

The weather, pitch and two poor teams combined to make it a poor spectacle but a win is a win no matter how bad at this stage of the season.

I agree that O'Dea had a good game often covering for mistakes by others and looking comfortable most of the game. McMahon is a liability sometimes - poor anticipation and a glaring loss of possession exposed us on a couple of occasions in the first half. O'Hara's involvement throughout the game kept us going and I always felt we could nick a goal and hold on for a change, as Brighton had offered very little in attack. Of the "youth" payers, it was good to see them back in contention, I agree that Cameron was off the pace and Telford tried hard but those two need time to grow and mature with experience before they represent an answer to our team strengths. Waddington for the time he was on showed up well and he is a much bigger person and could become more important to us much sooner than the other two.

Have we ever had 28,000 for a Div Two home game?
at 14:40 18 Jan 2015

Almost! 27,975 Home against Nobbers 16 Sept 1968. Draw 1-1 (Glyn James scored our goal)!

Same season League cup versus Man City (25 Sept - night match) 23,795 Won 1-0 (Tom White)

Perkins?
at 13:19 18 Jan 2015

No need to mince your words SSP but you're absolutely spot on! I cannot understand this "love affair" that managers and some supporters have with him. He is frequently given MoM by Gazette panel. He is below average in every aspect of the game except running around like a headless chicken, although for a small man he gets his head in often enough but it never achieves anything positive!

Our midfield will never produce any quality whilst he is part of it.

Legal Action Against Tim Fielding
at 19:50 9 Jan 2015

Tim is a lawyer and will know all the protocol involved in an action such as this. He has correctly distanced himself from BST so that Owen's statement about responding to the Trust whilst he has an action against one of their officers, does not hold water.

Whilst we all wholeheartedly support what Tim has done as individuals I am sure that he will wish to ensure that distance from the Trust is maintained. Talk of a "slush fund" to pay legal costs is premature, however well- intended. I am sure much more will come out of this over the ensuing weeks.

Are Karl's misdemeanours a slur on fans?
at 14:05 22 Dec 2014

We are Blackpool F C fans not Karl Oyston supporters. I cannot see that any of our supporters can offer any sympathy to KO with his history over the past few years. I am also sure that like-minded fans of other clubs will have sympathy with what's happening at Bloomfield Road and rightly condemn the Chairman's comments. Non footballing people should be made aware that those words are not shared by Blackpool supporters. If his latest comments speed up his exit from the Club then I am sure there will be some celebration!

A bad result - But a lot of luck for Bournemouth.
at 12:54 21 Dec 2014

I am disappointed at the criticism of Lewis, he let in 6 but in the past few months he has kept us in games and salvaged points for us! I too have watched the FL league show and like Chester spotted a couple of mistakes, however, you have to question the outfield players in allowing Bournemouth the opportunity for attempts on goal. The team selection was wrong from the start 4-5-1 at home should not be contemplated no matter who the opponents are, we need a win, not hope for a draw.
A midfield which includes McMahon and Perkins is going to be suspect with little ball retention and positive distribution. The penalty was soft and came just after we had scored, a time when most pundits will claim you are most vulnerable. At the end of the day it comes down to basics - we are lacking in skills, quality, and cohesion.

This is what happens when you don't invest
at 20:40 20 Dec 2014

The last time we played Bournemouth in 2009 I was fortunate to be invited into a box. At half-time I bumped into Owen Oyston and his comment was "Bournemouth must be the worst team at Bloomfield Road this season".
Roll on 4+ years and how fortunes have changed. Look at where we have been and look where they are now Mr Oyston. I guarantee the worst team you will see at Bloomfield Road this season will be Blackpool (if Team is not exaggerating the truth somewhat)!
Whatever team we had has been systematically pulled apart and we are now a collection of has-beens and misfits who nobody else wants. They are not good enough to stay in the Championship. Come the transfer window and the loan period I suspect some of the current squad will bid us farewell and we shall be left picking up the pieces again.
It pains me to write these words as I am usually a "glass half-full" type but today's performance gives me no hope whatsoever.

A very hard game to summarise
at 09:47 7 Dec 2014

Basil's report is spot on. There were several better performances but equally some players were still found lacking in skill and confidence. I agree with OR about Eagles who has the skills to excel but just can't get into the game and despite good pace and the surprise element in Murphy's game his decision-making was a little immature. That will improve with experience and confidence and he is definitely one for the future. The midfield looks stronger with O'Hara, my MoM, and the two centre-backs were typical no-nonsense type performances.
Small steps, one defeat in five, but remember where we are coming from and not get too carried away.

Today's team news ...

5 loanees in starting line up so no place for Daniels! Not even on the bench, it looks as though he has drawn the short straw this week unless there is an injury doubt.

Reserve team
at 20:44 14 Nov 2014

It beggars belief that with squads of 25-30 players that we ever did away with the reserve matches. Whatever happened to the Central League which was played midweek? It was an ideal opportunity to encourage younger players to get involved with some of the more senior players (perhaps returning from injury or suspension) and pick up fitness and experience.
If the call came for inclusion in the first team squad they would be more ready than having been sat in the stands !
