Great points Brian.
Mentioned on another thread but from what Dunne was saying it seems they're struggling to find/adapt another way for playing without Madsen. So Stephan and the coaches are grappling with that, but it sounds like the message for whatever that new system is, isn't getting through to all the players. Hence more of a communication issue.
As an aside, Stephan might be a nice guy, gets on well with the players, but is he actually a leader? Or are those leadership skills neutered by him just being a head coach and being dictated to by Nourry? In the eyes of the players potentially that undermines his authority and hence we see the slop served up in the first half at Birmingham.
Let's see if any of that has been improved on tomorrow.... |

Yeah it's a good money spinner betting on the oppo, especially around this time of year when our form goes through the floor. Usually a fiver, nothing too silly.
Boro earnt me 28 quid when I cashed out on my 3-0 bet.
I had a 2-0 bet on Birmingham so I was somewhat p1ssed off they didn't score the second goal they clearly deserved!
I'm not seeing a lot of value for the game tomorrow (and obviously I'm not stupid enough to bet on us winning), so I will probably invest my fiver in a pie and a pint. |

Thanks Clive - appreciate it doesn't get any easier.
Re Dunne's comments I think there is a challenge to how the team plays without Madsen. Understandable as we don't have anyone else who can play that role. But it's clear that on current form Varane and Saito can't start; you'd think Morgan and Kolli did enough to earn a start tomorrow, can only hope the manager (sorry, "head coach") sees that too.
But for all that a professional team can still do the basics of running, tackling, heading. Competing. That is a bare minimum. And it was totally absent in the first half on Wednesday night.

At one point in the first half, supposedly chasing an equaliser, we were "defending" so deep that Kone and Vale were more or less on the edge of our D.

Things can change very quickly though (as per in The Four Year Plan).
You just need to get an adult in the room (Warnock) and people above him who can put their egos aside and let him get on with the job. Bhatia and Sakhsena successfully did that, to be fair they weren't too much older than Nourry but it seems they had empathy and the people skills too. |

Fortunately Sky had Andy Walker on co comms again (god knows what he's done to deserve sitting through our games) but he called it exactly as he saw it, that is, we're pretty bad. At some points almost sounded as p1ssed off as a dedicated Rangers fan. |
