| News Comment | Saints Announce Pre Season Schedule at 14:51:31
When did Sport Republic buy Montpellier? Completely missed that and a bit surprised they're allowed to own two separate clubs in France |
| News Comment | Leave Nothing On The Pitch ! Leave Nothing In The Stands ! at 14:26:52
Spot on. If there is even the smallest possibility that the crowd can be the marginal gain to get Saints over the line then everyone should be doing what they can to contribute to that. No one wants to hear the FFS's etc... |
| News Comment | No Togetherness No Character No Fight at 11:54:49
I get that last night was horrific and everyone has a right to be emotional about it but now is not the time for hyperbole around the manager. We have our flaws but ultimately this is a good side which is there or there about at the points mark of our 2012 promotion year. There is a playoff campaign to look forward to and I'm unclear what the RM bashing is seeking to achieve. You're an influential voice and trying to get the fanbase opposed to the manager (and like it or not therefore team) at this stage is not productive. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Cardiff City The Verdict at 11:34:07
Think you're reaching a bit here. Hugely frustrating but ultimately dominant performances are a positive thing even if you do get your pocket picked. That's not on the manager... There'll be days when the performance etc will fit your predetermined narrative but not Saturday was one of them. |
| News Comment | Southampton Midfielder Shocked By Fans Booing At St Mary's at 13:21:16
He's absolutely spot on. So many so quick to hammer the side which is clearly not productive. I get everyone pays their hard earned money etc but creating such a negative environment has clearly hindered the side for a while now, that certainly won't change in the championship. |
| News Comment | Southampton Confirm Departure Of James Ward Prowse at 10:19:39
Wish him well albeit gutted a club legend is moving on. Nick - you don't mention the chance of more England caps. A good season for West Ham and he is likely at the Euros next summer, not going to happen after a year in the second tier sadly. |
| News Comment | Aston Villa Happy To Cancel Jan Bednarek Loan Agreement at 09:55:39
Ironic that you have been (rightly) critical of fans singling out individual players for constant negativity when you have this bizarre obsession with hammering Bednarek at every opportunity. Let it go mate. |
| News Comment | Nathan Redmond Could Be Off To Turkey at 09:26:23
Inconsistent but no way was he remotely close to bad enough to merit the negativity he's been on the receiving end of at times. Wish him luck. |
| News Comment | Are Newcastle Seeking To Gain An Unfair Advantage By Calling Games Off at 10:10:15
Completely agree. Can't say I blame Newcastle at all but the system seems far too open to abuse. I do however think the comparisons you make with the national average (also made in previous articles) is over simplistic. Doesn't take into account things like regional, age group variances, etc and more importantly ignores the simple fact that by the nature of their job footballers are in closer proximity than the average group of colleagues, if 1/2 players get it, it is incredibly likely to spread to several others. That isn't necessarily a club/organisations fault as you suggest. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Chelsea The Verdict at 15:06:44
Overall I thought it was a pretty decent effort, as did the Chelsea fans judging by the comments overheard around me in the home section. Simply do not understand the 'Ralph Out' nonsense. Completely agree that the next 5 league games (all of which are winnable) are now key. Really need to start scoring and winning to avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap. |
| News Comment | Why Is Carlton Palmer Suddenly The World's Expert On Southampton FC at 11:21:08
Couldn't agree more. He has also spent time as the Head of Sports at Wellington College's Singaporean spin-off. No doubt his time at a rugby school on the other side of the world will have only enhanced his substantial expertise further! It has been irritating seeing him quoted and re-quoted by various articles this summer but I could never work out where or to whom he made any of the the original statements, almost all of which seem to be negative towards and dismissive of Saints as a club. I thought he was a pretty good player in what at the time was a very poor Saints side but sadly he does seem to have a chip on his shoulder now... |
| News Comment | Theo Walcott Agrees Two Year Saints Deal at 12:37:22
He seems a really good guy and it's a lovely story but ultimately this isn't a great signing. I'm sure he's joining on significantly less money than he was on at Everton but it'll still be a chunky wage for someone to run around like a headless chicken losing possession. Another wide attacker who surely sits behind every one of Tella, Redmond, Armstrong, Djenepo, Minamino, Smallbone. If talking about attackers in general add Ings, Obafemi, Adams, N'lundulu to that list plus we still have to get Elyounoussi & Long off the books too. All in all I don't get this at all. Really hope I'm proved wrong though... |
