Fluminense has sold left-back João Henrique, better known as Esquerdinha, aged 18, to Queen Park Rangers (QPR), in England. Clubs are already exchanging documents to seal the agreement this Thursday.
Got to think of the lettering on shirt sales...........
A bit more form the site:
One of the academy's great recent promises, the player has already received some professional opportunities at the club, even though he is still very young. His debut took place in May 2023, in a 1-0 defeat to The Strongest-BOL, in a match valid for the Libertadores.
The tendency was for Esquerdinha to gradually gain space. Last season they had a good run, participating in five consecutive matches. However, he returned to the under-20s and played for the under-23s at the end of 2024. At the beginning of the Carioca Championship, he played for just 23 minutes in the duels played by the "alternative team".
Fluminense currently has two options for left-back. With the departure of Marcelo, at the end of last season, and Diogo Barbosa, who transferred to Fortaleza in this transfer window, Gabriel Fuentes and Renê — recently hired — are the names in the position.
No contest, as it would be Cook and JCS. The next problem would be who makes the bench? Would you need all 3 on the bench of Edwards, Morrison and Fox? I would say Fox has to be one as cover for left back and left sided centre half.
Have to say, I don't understand the sub we keep doing with Ashby coming on for Smyth. Maybe if Smyth was on a yellow and he was getting close to a second, but its a head scratcher for me.
Great win. Fantastic goal to win it, so pleased for Saito. Lloyd changed the game for us when he came on. Their centre backs got bullied. Just hope we don't go overboard with expectations on getting into the top 6. Lets get to 50 points as soon as we can and see where we can go from there.
