| Your Report | Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur Your Report added at 18:04:02 Looks like both first choice ctr backs will missing for a few weeks. ABK obviously has an ongoing weakness with his shoulder popping out & JB's broken ribs will keep out for 6 weeks. I thought it was a real gutsy performance today with everybody stepping up. Theo had his best game for us & showed real leadership qualities (about time). Where there's life there's hope. |
| Your Report | Crystal Palace v Southampton Your Report added at 18:35:11 Watched it all. We were wretched it the 1st half. Diallo just kept giving the ball away. JWP was no better, he is so missing his protector Oriel Romeu. But as another post said we play with fear , Ralph looks as if he's going to cry even before the match starts. Lyanco is crazy but unlike a lot of our other players he's entertaining, it's like watching Carlton Palmer (anyone remember him). But to his credit Lyanco controlled himself well in 2nd half to avoid a sending off after getting an early booking. I like the look of Caleba Car (think he should be called Caleba calm because he never looks ruffled). Maitland Niles looked quality when he came on, when Lavia comes back AMN should start alongside him. That could be a very good partnership (sorry Prowsy but you just ain't cutting it this season.) As usual Che missed a couple of sitters but he's still our best striker (only). We looked so much better when we played on the front foot later in the game, plenty of possession but no end product. |
| Your Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers v Southampton Your Report added at 17:44:57 Not so good today. Perraud was struggling. Same old story with our 2 full backs getting caught playing to high up the pitch & leaving acres of space out wide. We needed Romeu today, he would have bossed that midfield. Elynoussi & Adam Armstrong ineffective. We need to find a position for Aribo, I can't really work out where he's playing, but he does work hard. We have to accept that this very young side needs time to gel & they can only get better. Still it's a more promising start to the season than most of us expected. |
| Your Report | Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton Your Report added at 18:44:44 The club brings in 6 new players & only 3 of them played. So Ralph doesn't trust the rookies. We didn't need 6 unproven rookies, we needed just 3 proven Premier players. When will Ralph realise that Djennepo is not a wing back, wing backs first priority is to defend & he just can't. And once again his substitutions made us worse, Ralph is so tactically naive & it's going to cost us our premier lge status. Another game lost after taking an early lead. Oooohhh, that sounds so familiar. |
| Your Report | Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton Your Report added at 17:42:10 Well, what did we expect. In the 2nd half Ralph reverted to the same defence that conceded so many soft goals last season, I think Jack Stephen's must be Ralph's love child. Our performance was as drab as that awful away kit (uggh). Lavia was by far our best player, that will tell you how bad the rest were. After one game we're bottom of the lge & that's exactly where we'll be all season. |
| Your Report | Leicester City v Southampton Your Report added at 11:00:28 Same old Saints. Cannot defend, cannot create & cannot score (other than a dubious penalty). What is Ralph thinking bringing Stephen's back into the side, 3 weeks ago he was where he should be which is nowhere to be seen. Stephen's has never been good enough for Premier Lge & never will be. He's lazy, he lacks concentration & his pedestrian style of play rubs off on others. Ralph continuses to play players out of position then wonders where it went wrong , playing Salisu at Left wing back is crazy, KWP should have moved over to the left & Valery come in & played on the right, that's his natural position. We've all known for a long time that Ralph's a lovely fella, but a Premier Lge manager he's not, he typifies the clubs lack of ambition. A word on JWP, we all know what he's good at but let's have a look at what he's not so good at, he's not a natural vocal leader, he's far to negative in his play, his first thought is sideways & backwards, he's not prepared to run with the ball & he is just not creative enough.(compare him to James Maddison, chalk & cheese come to mind). That's enough about the team, Saints have been blessed with fantastic support whichever lge they've been in, but why Oh why do they insist on singing "we hate Pompey" when we're not playing them, it seems that the fans lose interest in the match in front of them & resort to singing about our near neighbours. But I understand its difficult to sing " when the Saints go marching in" when we are being stuffed 4-1. Let's try to look forward to next season, I for one am not convinced it will be any better unless RH & most of his deadwood are replaced. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Liverpool Your Report added at 10:22:52 Well we might be in the Premier lge for another season but that's all. With Ralph in charge & the current squad we cannot survive at that level for much longer. Most (not all) other Premier Clubs have progressed while Saints have regressed. We only survived by the skin of our teeth this season thanks to a couple of other teams faltering. FEAR is the problem at St Marys, Ralph does not believe in himself or the squad. Even after 37 games he just does not know his best team or best system to play. Ralph, listen, it's simple play your best players in their best position, stop trying to be too clever, most of our players struggle at this level playing in their best position so they have no chance if played out of position. Ralph set the team up to play Liverpool assuming we were going to get beat so attempted minimise the damage by playing deep & after we scored go even deeper. Suicidal tactics against the quality Liverpool have. You could see & feel the FEAR in Ralph's face & over the season he has installed that FEAR into the players. They are now afraid to receive the ball, they are afraid they will make a mistake. Opposition can sense & smell the FEAR in Saints so go for our jugular. Apparently we have Goalkeeping coaches plus Dead Ball situation coaches. We'll get rid of them because they are not doing their job. McCarthy getting beaten at his near post again. Then conceding again from a corner, What , our smallest player JWP (bless him) trying to mark Liverpools tallest player, come on you wouldn't see that at the park on a Sunday morning. Thank god the season is all but finished & let's hope next season gives us a fearless manager & a team full of fearless players. |
