 | Forum Thread | Nothing to worry about, we can all go to a summer party. by saintmark1976 at 21:13 24 Feb 2025
Possibly the worst season in living memory, bottom of the league for months and 1/500 to be relegated. All is not lost however, because according to the club’s latest email, for £47 plus V A T each we can all go to the Gasworks and have a party to celebrate. Welcome to the new Southampton Football Club/Theme Park who only ever communicate with it’s fans for the purpose of relieving them of their money. |

These are unfortunate times at Saints in that there's nothing to play for except a spot in a Championship side next year. So everything thus far this calendar year, and everything to follow in the final twelve matches, is pure experimentation at best. Hopefully we work out whatever we need to for next year. It won't make for attractive or successful football through the end of the season, alas. |
 | Forum Thread | Slack Jack will be back on Tuesday by GRIM at 16:53 24 Feb 2025
I hate to say it but Slack Jack is likely to be back for the Chelsea match. We all know how poor he is but with all the injuries we have he's probably our best ctr back at the moment (God help us). Play him alongside ABK, we just can't continue trying to convert both Bree & Aribo into Ctr Backs, neither of them are suitable to play that position, in fact neither them are good enough to play any position in Premier Lge . Stick to just 4 across the back & 4 in midfield with Tall Paul & KS up front. Whatever team we send out will not get a result but we could restore a bit of credibility. |
 | News Comment | Juric Gives Reason For Albert Gronbaek Absence ! Why Sign Him Then by JoeEgg at 14:09:59
It was only last weekend that Nick suggested that the Brighton fixture on Saturday was 'winnable'!! Now we have our central defenders getting injured and a lunatic in charge. How can any game be regarded as 'winnable' with the Club in total chaos. If Gronbaek, and a number of others are to achieve anything at Saints, it will be with an English manager who can organise and understand how to get the best out of a pretty poor squad. The Brighton result could have easily been 0-10 - we are that bad under Juric. We missed out on Potter so perhaps Steve Cooper could be brought in immediately. Just one more week with Juric represents total insanity. |

Interesting reading, although it wouldn't change much, it would have still seen us with a few more points and perhaps that might have seen us pick up a few more and have a fighting chance. Liverpool - 58pts Arsenal - 55pts Bournemouth - 47pts Nottingham Forest - 47pts Manchester City - 45pts Chelsea - 43pts Newcastle - 41pts Aston Villa - 41pts Fulham - 39pts Brighton - 38pts Brentford - 37pts Tottenham -35pts Crystal Palace - 35pts Everton - 31pts Manchester United - 31pts Wolves - 26pts West Ham - 24pts Ipswich - 19pts Leicester - 14pts Southampton - 12pts |

 | Forum Thread | Parsons Has To Go by UTS1885 at 11:47 24 Feb 2025
Ive seen and heard enough to say that Phil Parsons is totally out of his depth running a Premier League football club. And before someone says it wont be soon, the mentality has to remain that it is one. The Sport Republic senior managament appointments have been a total disaster be it Parsons or rugby boy Bitcon. We only can pray that Spors can save the day and rescue us from a double relegation |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Brighton The Verdict by underweststand at 11:32:15
Inheriting a squad who had been brainwashed into "Russball" for 60 plus games (many of whom just aren't upto Prem. level - even on a good day) has been tough on Juric and it's hard to convert to an attacking formation without recognised goalscorers at this level, as we never replaced Danny Ings (who despite injuries) still managed a good goal tally in his time, and likewise Romeu was more of a permanent DM that anyone thought, and never successfully replaced. Harwood-Bellis. who had previously shown up well in his loan to Burnley (and last season with us) showed up well in the Championship, but just can't seem to cut it at the highest level. Praise laid on Stephens and Lallana as "a good voice in the dressing room" dwindles away when they aren't on the pitch to help deliver. Our defence has been decimated by both injuries and poor form for the last month or more and the prospect of seeing any of them back soon, means that the appearance of Bella-Kotchap at CB may become an absolute necessity for the foreseeable future. |
 | News Comment | Juric Gives Reason For Albert Gronbaek Absence ! Why Sign Him Then by underweststand at 11:06:09
To be fair I don't think I can blame any party. After enduring 60+ games of Russball, it's becoming hard for Juric to find a workable attacking formation when we have only one recognised striker and too many injuries to talk about. We haven't seen enough of Gronbaek to make any judgement, but he looked to be an attacking MF but Fernandes is already one of our few dependable players and is in that spot. Very little MF creativity, and Smallbone is still lacking form, and Downes (whilst out of the doghouse) isn't the same player as last season. Even if the players are trying to be positive from the start, it isn't only fans who drop their heads after the first goal goes in, andhold on to the hope that we don't concede too many more before the final whistle. We can't attract " the better class of player " when we are priced out of the market over transfer fees and the higher salaries demanded by their agents, and despite some valiant efforts by certain individuals it's clear that (like Ipswich and Leicester) we just aren't good enough for the top tier at present. It would be good to get a few more points as some sort of recompense before the end of season, but in all fairness I feel that after the summer it won't be a case of "who will leave", but more likely - who is still left. We may never get a good look at Gronbaek, and his long future with Saints is probably no better than many others. |

Its a total shambles . We were better of with Martin no question . Juric has done nothing in my opinion . We need to re employ Martin for next season or Rolf . What i don't understand is why the board would go with an unknown manager who has never managed in the prem when there were others available who now the league . Now look we are so poor its painful to watch . I have been supporting Saints for over 50 years and this the worst iv seen . As a football coach at an academy i understand football and really don't get what the manager is going . HE NEEDS TO GO YESTERDAY before like saintmark1976 said its to late and all the supporters give up totally . |
