About 2,000 Tickets Left For Forest Game on 23:39 - Jan 3 with 1668 views | dirk_doone | I'm 50/50 about bothering to go. The latest managerial appointment was the final nail in the coffin for many long-term fans. I'll probably go in the end out of a sense of duty. I also still bought a ticket for the quarter-final game v Man City Reserves but noticed very few other people had bothered. It's hard to recall a time when the confidence in the club's owners, manager and players was as low as it is now. It's like Rupert Lowe x Ian Branfoot squared. We live in hope. The players could just try to forget about the manager and beat Forest, who are nailed-on for relegation. [Post edited 18 Jan 2023 21:52]

Mmmm; I am aware of a few ST holders who aren’t going; in some ways that is more telling. Reckon the actual people in the ground will be nearer 28,000.

The Brighton game on Boxing Day was supposedly a sell-out, yet there were large swathes of empty seats all over the ground. Be amazed if the actual attendance of that one was much over 28k.

The problem is we have too many floating fans, look at the other clubs down there, Everton fans fill out the stadium and they have had just as bad a time as us, Wolves, West ham, all havent done much in the past couple of seasons. Merseyside is one of the poorest areas of the country, they have more people that are on the poverty line than down in the affluent South, do they need the cash for other things more than they do down here. I judge our support on what other teams are getting and they are filling out there grounds still, given our potential catchment area etc and the relative affluency compared to the rest of the country there is no excuse Sorry i don't buy the excuse that 30,000 isnt a bad crowd for a Wednesday night, this is a must win 6 pointer game you are either a Saints supporter who wants the team to stay up or you are not. Yeah, I think enough is enough re my boycott of home games. It is a pretty big game and I felt I would be daft to miss it. Though whether I am still thinking that at 9.30pm is another thing….. We have always had floating fans; even in the years of Pochettino and Koeman we wouldn’t always sell out home games.

" Wolves, West ham, all havent done much in the past couple of seasons." You do spout some rubbish. Wolves have 3 top 10 finishes the past 4 seasons and West Ham have finished the last 2 seasons 7th and 6th...

About 2,000 Tickets Left For Forest Game on 11:26 - Jan 4 with 1224 views | saint901 | I think I would qualify as a "floating fan". Was a ST holder (x2) but now a member and able to acquire tickets for the games I want to see. So far this season we've been to four games. One was great (Arsenal draw), one was exciting (beating Chelsea) and the others (Everton and Newcastle) were frustrating disasters. I don't mind losing games so long as we play with some sensible plan, heart, commitment and pride. In the last two matches above, we fell short of that. So far I see no signs that Jones has the capacity to bring back the team we saw against Arsenal and Chelsea and in this league there is no time to find your feet - you have to be at it from day 1. Forest are on a good run and full of confidence. I would take a draw now if offered. I think a win would be fantastic but on present form unlikely. So would I go and see my team (supported for close on 60 years now), midweek in January, playing with no discernible identity, hacking through the inevitable traffic (my 30 mile journey in and out averaging around 90 minutes each way), and with the crowd around me more likely to criticise than support? No. I've been a ST holder all the way through the fall to Div 1 and back again to the PL and whilst I've been elated and devastated in equal measure, in all of these times we had a character and united effort in the team, reflected in the coaching and perhaps management of the club. That is all broken and my trust in the management is at an all time low, we have replaced an inept manager with one who has a long way to go to get on a par with his peers, we have a squad, the majority of whom would not get into another team in the league, who have been poorly served by being played out of position and with a rigid tactical system that all too often was - at best - naive. I'm sorry to say that until I see signs of improvement my capacity for further frustration and disappointment is exhausted and I will not be going.

I think Nick maybe you ought to realise we are not as big a club as those you mentioned It could even be culture. You mentioned affordability and and you are right in what you say about Merseyside, but that area, the east end of London, Wolverhampton are all hard core industrial areas with a working class background. Throw the north eadt in to that lot as well only the Geordies are doing ok atm. The areas where in years gone by are traditionally footballing areas with solid support While us in the affluent south (?) have a probably hard core 20k support (60 - 70% capacity), those other areas have probably 80 - 90% hardcore support? There's no science in what I've just said or quoted nug we are not as big as those clubs and maybe have a lot more fickle supporters than others? Just throwing that in ....... oh, I'm going tonight and will be next season no matter whst div we are in

Nick you need to stop comparing us to bigger clubs with far bigger fan bases. Everton, Westham and even Wolves to some extent have far bigger fanbases than Saints. If an Everton fan does not want to go then 3 or 4 fans would want to go in their place. Same with West Ham. If a Saints fan does not to wish to go (for what ever reason ) then maybe only 1 fan might want to go in their place eventually if enough cant go then there is no one left to take the ticket. Aas for floating fans , Some fans cant go to every game, some cant make evening games, etc etc . Not every fan wants to or can go to all games. You need to compare us with clubs of a similar size and fan bases like Palace abd Brighton. If we get nearly 27,000 Saints fans on a Wednesday night just after Christmas (no matter how important the game is) then thats good I think.

But that was my point. Without a membership you can select any game you want to go to as, even when we are doing 'well', every game reaches general sale so as long as you log on reasonably soon after the general sale time you will get a ticket. Buying a membership is just giving a charitable donation to our owners for nothing in return.

West Ham fans enjoyed a European cup final last season and were in the top 6. They have spent money on decent players. Everton have spent a lot of money on their team. Saints have been sh!t for about 5 years running. The fans have had enough. I know a fair few who are passionate fans, but they can't bare to sit there watching the team they love get beat easily every week. It's not enjoyable is it, keep getting beat nearly every game. West Ham fans would soon stop going if they were rubbish year after year after year.
