Did the Prem League not vote last month to block clubs from using money from sponsorship deals from parties connected to the ownership of a club? I think it was initially a temporary ban.
I recall that Man City declined to vote, NUFC voted against and the rest voted in favour.
If the other Prem clubs are opposed there is going to be a very interesting power play.
The clubs are clearly worried that NUFC could buy their way to safety and then next season who knows and in effect create a league of "have's" and a league of "have not's".
This is one step to a Euro super league in all but name when the money clubs will not want to play Burnley or Norwich or Saints, when they could be playing PSG, Juventus, Inter, Barcleona etc.

Personally I think there is no doubt that Newcastle will be top 4 in the next few years.
Even if they go down this year they'll spend their way out of the Championship.
They'll spend money in January and providing they don't go down then next summer they'll start to bring in better quality. It took Man City a few seasons once the money arrived.
