I mentioned Gerry Francis on another thread as almost as a joke but its not as mad as all that.

1. Still working in the game at Stoke and has done well there considering
2. Kept us up with no money to spend and when the club was a car crash in his first [half] season of his second spell. Always forgotten because we went down next season after Carlisle and Steiner got injured, but the fact is that fans were on the pitch chanting his name and that we'd be top next year at the end of his first season when relegation had looked nailed on
3. His strength as a manager is not signing big money players but working with what he's got and organising them.
4. Would only be a caretaker to end of season. Then we could look for a manager fitted for whatever the job next season is - trying to rebuild in the Champ [most likely] or staying up in the Prem, depending on results this season, rather than trying to get someone now who can manage a Premiership team in the full knowledge that we're almost certainly already down
5. And most important of all - only a bloody lunatic, someone being paid an absolute fortune, or someone who loved the club would take the job on. We don't want either of the first two and GF is the only bloke I can think of who fits the second and is actually working with Premiership players right now

yep Gerry's a better bet than many that have been mentioned.
He's QPR to the core and he's a smart coach.
I'd like to see Gerry back at Rangers as head of coaching but someone else to be manager (Benitez?)

Liverpool didn't offer Martinez the job, if they had he'd be in charge now. It was Villa he turned down

No he turned Liverpool down

Oh seriously grow a pair, Do you think Mr Hughes is not compensated well enough to accept this level of pressure. If you got the tin tac from your job for poor performance would you expect to get three years of a vast salary in return.

Mark Hughes need never work again and will live a life of luxury that most of us cannot even comprehend

You think its bad on here, you should go over to WATRB!!!

Hughes has had almost 12 months, spent a fortune, managed players badly, kept picking the same team / formation when it wasnt working, cant change a game with his subs, cant motivate the team, cant win away....now cant win at home.

He is human, granted. If he was a decent human being he would own up and say, I got it wrong, sorry, I resign.

Agreed. But vitriol from individuals on here with only half a brain cell and about as much understanding of the game as a 2 year old epitomises all that is wrong with the game!

All that is wrong with the game can be found out there on the field in blue and white hoops. expensive, over paid players, not even trying, while the super agent that brought them and the manager here sits with the chairman in the stand. The people who turn up every week and pay their money to watch are fcking heroes, not the problem.

Agreed. Failure to compete is unforgivable and that is what we witnessed with some players. That was never a accusation that could be directed at Hughes as a player as much as we disliked him at Rangers during his many memorable battles with Alan MacDonald. Most fans are worthy of your description but some on here are not!

Back to the manager question for me it would be the need for experience so Terry Venables and George graham reunited would be the dream ,they would get us organised straight away .

What a sad world we live in. How many of the morons on this site would appreciate somebody gloating over their demise if they were to face the bullet from work? Failure deserves to face the consequences but nobody deserves to be unscrupulously abused. Mark Hughes is a human being who has been unsuccessful. He deserves respect nonetheless. I have been a fan for well over 40 years and this website has become something akin to a football version of Britain's Got Talent! Inadequate Voyeurs screaming abuse? People who probably don't have an ounce of ability in their chosen field feel it is their right to simply throw bricks and they are likely to get their way
I thought the sacking of Warnock was a low point for this club and no doubt the vultures will get their way with Hughes in time. His record is poor and there should no defence of failure. However, a Mark Robins late goal saved Fergy all those years ago and look what happened there!
I am not saying that Mark Hughes is the right man but like many on this site I am not qualified to judge. Those close to the situation are but through mass hysteria those who are in such a position, I fear, are likely to be swayed by the pressure of sites like this.
I just hope that when their job is under threat that the cretins get some respect from those around them.

I'd have sympathy for someone who got the sack If he or she didn't deserve It.

In Hughes's case his impending sacking will be fully justifiable, his pay off on the other hand is and will be in my opinion unjustifiable.

Your quote on Mark Hughes; "He deserves respect nonetheless."

No he does not, were he to have earnt it then yes but he has been an abject and expensive failure for QPR.

As stated previously he should do the honourable thing and resign, should he do that then I'll stand up and say fair play to the bloke.

That aint gonna happen anytime soon though.

I never wan't to see Mark Hughes in the dug out at QPR ever again, he's a bloody disaster.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

You do realise that if you get Redknapp and he takes you down it will be erased from history, just like when he took us down.

All of a sudden you're nearly talking in sentences. Flap on about players all day long if you think that makes you seem all old school and knowledgeable.

Cant believe some of the names people are mentioning. The problem is we have a number of players who think they are the dogs blllx and need a dressing down. Therefore we need a high profile experienced manager who can do that.

correct.

1) Accept we are going down
2) Start planning now how to get rid of the overpaid has-beens that Hughes has brought in (if we don't, it doesn't matter who comes in to manage).
3) Stick with Hughes until Feb 1st, so the new incumbent has to work with what he has got left and not throw another sackload of money at an insurmountable problem.
4) Let the new manager bring in players during the summer.
5) Make that manager Dougie Freedman.

Gus Poyet.
Laurent Blanc.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Redknapp. Not keen on him, but would maybe take him on a short term contract.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

Laurent Blanc - 1st choice for me
Redknapp - 2nd choice because I think he'll keep us up
Poyet - 3rd choice
LFW travelling party - 4th choice, they're at each game anyways, know tactics and can write match reports/previews/oppo profile right from the dugout
